| Sheargrubs come in two different colors: pink and purple. Pink Sheargrubs are female, while purple Sheargrubs are male. Female Sheargrubs do not have any mandibles and do not attack [[Olimar]] nor [[Pikmin (species)|Pikmin]]. Male Sheargrubs, however, are exacltly the oposite. They have mandibles and will jump onto their prey and tear them apart.

| In Pikmin, when the male Sheargrubs have a Pikmin in their mouth, they are invincible from damage unless Captain Olimar throws a Pikmin on them.
