Geography

Although needing to be loaded through The Distant Spring on the map screen, it appears more similar to The Impact Site or The Forest of Hope. It has many unused walls and textures, for example, a stump near a destroyed wall not seen in the final game. There is a large rock immediately next to the S.S. Dolphin at the start of the map, that has textures not found in the retail game. It's by far one of the smallest maps in the game.

2 Player Versus

The reason for the map being so small could be that it was meant to be a 2-player map. According to the game's files, it has a configuration for a "versus" game that was cut during development. The "versus" concept returned in Pikmin 2 as 2-Player Mode, possibly inspired by this game's attempts at it.
