The '''Courage Reactor''' ({{j|あいとゆうきリアクター|Ai to Yūki Riakutā|[[Love and Courage Reactor]]}}) is actually a {{w|Duracell}} D battery. It is the first [[treasure]] that can be collected in {{p2}}, and is found partially buried in the [[Valley of Repose]]. Upon retrieval, [[Hocotate ship|the ship]] is satisfied with the day's work and the first day is completed. While [[Louie]] discovers this treasure first, he needs to reunite with [[Olimar]] before it can be lifted and salvaged.

The text on the side contains a paragraph informing the user that the battery cannot be recharged, and that the polarity of the battery should be respected. These instructions are written in Italian, French, German and English, in that order. The full text reads:

In the Japanese [[Region|version]] of ''Pikmin 2'', this treasure's equivalent is the [[Love and Courage Reactor]], which is a "National Hi-Top" battery, a Japanese brand of battery. Strangely, on the US {{Npcp2}} website, the Courage Reactor is shown as a National Hi-Top battery instead of a Duracell battery.{{cite web|http://web.archive.org/web/20120530182922/http://pikmin2.nintendo.com:80/story.html|''New Play Control! To retrieve this treasure, both [[Captain Olimar|Olimar]] and [[Louie]] are needed: start by gathering all the [[pellets]] in the area and the [[Dwarf Bulborb|Dwarf Red Bulborb]]. After obtaining 20 [[Red Pikmin]], have them [[dig]] it out of the ground and carry it to the ship.
