Pikmin Day (ピクミンの日?, lit.: "Pikmin Day") is a celebration of the Pikmin series that takes place on November 1 annually, starting from 2026. It takes places on November 1 because the three main Pikmin types can be imagined as the number one, forming 11.1 (or 1.11).[1] It was revealed in the Pikmin Day Direct, which released a few hours after a post from Shigeru Miyamoto on Nintendo of Japan's X page.[2]

2026[edit]

The first Pikmin Day took place in 2026. After an X post from Nintendo, it was revealed in the Pikmin Day Direct that released a few hours later. This Direct was roughly nine minutes long, with it featuring new content and information about the Pikmin series.

The first part of the Direct had Miyamoto explain why Pikmin Day was chosen to take place on November 1, where he said that if the three main Pikmin types (the Red Pikmin, Yellow Pikmin, and Blue Pikmin) are imagined as the number one, they can form the date 11.1, meaning November 1 – in countries where the date is shown before the month such as the United Kingdom, then the respective Direct shows the Pikmin forming a 1.11 instead.[3]

The next section talks about Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, where it showcased more information about the game, including some gameplay, before announcing that a demo is set to release on November 2nd, 2026. This demo will include the same content as the Pikmin 4 demo, as well as two stages of Dandori Academy. The Direct then moves on to talk about Pikmin Bloom, where it shows caves, enemies, and treasures being added in an update coming in the winter. Some of the enemies and treasures showcased were of a Bulborb and Albino Dwarf Bulborb, and a Universal Rubber Cutie and Heroic Sword. It also shows that special caves can be unlocked by completing Dandori Academy exams in Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy.

The latter half of the Direct brings in Fuka Koshiba, a Japanese actress, who is a new spokesperson for the series. Koshiba was brought into the role by Miyamoto to promote the series as he saw her share some knitted Pikmin hats on Instagram. She and Miyamoto introduced the final part of the Direct, that being Hello! Pikmin. Hello! Pikmin is a series of short films being produced by Nintendo Pictures, which will release once per month from December 2026 onwards, though two are releasing in November 2026. These short animations will be released on the Nintendo Today! app, as well as other channels.

A Nintendo Treehouse is set to release on November 1 at 9am PT as well, where Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will be played.[4]
