What sort of online capability would you most like to see in a Pikmin game?

  • Multiplayer in Story Mode
  • Multiplayer in cooperative side modes
  • Multiplayer in competitive side modes
  • Custom stage sharing

Support

  1. (Nominator:) people definitely want online things, but WHICH online things? I don't have any idea for options yet, but maybe this poll will be interesting. — {EspyoT} 04:15, 16 September 2015 (EDT)
  2. I may be a anonymous user but this is a great idea. I think one idea would be online Multiplayer and also online Story. (Maybe in Pikmin 4, You auto start with 2 captains Pikifan4 (talk) 14:32, 27 January 2016 (EST)
  3. I'm interested what people will say about this. Untitled-1 (talk) 16:17, 28 April 2017 (EDT)
  4. While the release of Pikmin 3 Deluxe has recontextualized this question a bit, I do think it's a good idea to ask about online features. — Soprano(talk) 17:38, December 21, 2020 (EST)

  • Online Multi Player, Online Bingo Battle/Two Player Battle, Online story (i mentioned this above) and finally, online stage share, (make satges using sand box then, share online) Pikifan4 (talk) 14:34, 27 January 2016 (EST)
  • Hm, I'm not too sure about these options. Three of them are pretty much the same option. I like the idea of choosing between something like multiplayer and content sharing, but the more I think about it, the more I don't think this will work well. Everyone will want to be able to play real-time multiplayer. Something like custom stage sharing implies custom stage creation, which is an entire can of worms in and of itself. — {EspyoT} 11:51, August 9, 2021 (EDT)
    • Hmm, I see your point. This poll sounds cool but is very difficult to come up with options with. Perhaps it'll have to wait until someone has better ideas for options. — Soprano(talk) 00:00, October 3, 2021 (EDT)

How do you feel about the first Pikmin game's time limit?

  • It's very stressful and short.
  • It's not stressful, but it is short.
  • It's stressful, but fair.
  • It's nothing special.
  • It's too forgiving.

Support

  1. (Nominator:) On the Pikmin Discord, we were discussing why some people find the time limit to be "hard". It occurred to me that we can just ask the community at large. With these options, I'm mostly trying to gauge the stress factor and the time constraint's fairness. We can probably add more options to further gauge what players find "hard". — {EspyoT} 10:35, 13 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. I think this is a good poll idea because it requires some thought and answers a useful question. Pikmin's time limit is controversial, and I think a poll like this would be interesting for that reason. — Soprano(talk) 19:43, November 10, 2020 (EST)
  3. --PastelP (talk) 15:03, November 25, 2022 (EST)
  4. Although the game's old, I feel this has the potential to be interesting. -Burrhead2 (talk) 20:07, November 29, 2022 (EST)

Oppose

  1. The game may be over a decade old, but as players like myself learn how to play more efficiently, they would see their opinions on the game's difficulty and time limit change (for example, I struggled to make it to the Forest Navel as a kid, but now my best run in the game is 12 days.) I wouldn't think this poll could achieve any concrete entries as many who have played Pikmin 1 in the past would probably find it much easier or even harder today. |\|TechnoMan|/| (talk) 21:13, 18 July 2017 (CDT)

Comments

  • There's a lot of options, I'm not sure we really need that many for this question. "It's nothing special" especially seems unnecessary. — Bossclips(talk) 13:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
  • The question should make it very clear that it's talking specifically about the first game, not the series in general. — Soprano(talk) 04:45, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
    • Agreed. — {EspyoT} 12:04, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

Have you gotten all Platinum in Pikmin 3's Mission Mode?

  • Yes!
  • No, but I'm still trying
  • No, and I'm not going to try

Support

  1. (Nominator:) It'd be a nice way to gauge how hardcore players are for Mission Mode. — {EspyoT} 10:27, 1 April 2018 (EDT)
  2. I agree. This sounds like a good poll. --Ben (talk) 00:16, November 18, 2019 (EST)
  3. Relevant — Bossclips(talk) 13:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
  4. --PastelP (talk) 15:03, November 25, 2022 (EST)

Oppose

  1. I think this question would have too many cases where people would be unsure (1-player or 2-player? Original or Deluxe?), and so it probably wouldn't get very interesting results. — Soprano(talk) 17:38, December 21, 2020 (EST)

Comments

  • It's worth noting that Pikmin 3 has separate medals for 1 player and Co-op mode in Mission Mode, and I'm not sure if there's a graceful way for a poll to account for that. Midnight blue (talk) 18:27, August 28, 2021 (EDT)

What Pikmin 1/2 area would you most like to see remastered using Pikmin 3's engine?

  • The Impact Site
  • The Forest Of Hope
  • The Forest Navel
  • The Distant Spring
  • The Final Trial
  • Valley of Repose
  • Awakening Wood
  • Perplexing Pool
  • Wistful Wild

Oppose

  1. I like this, but it has too many options to be a good poll, and The Forest Navel was already remade as Forgotten Cove. Plus, it feels like an unrealistic expectation for such a thing to happen. — Soprano(talk) 17:38, December 21, 2020 (EST)
  2. Yep too many options, it's a good poll idea though! Should be split into two separate polls. --PastelP (talk) 15:03, November 25, 2022 (EST)

Comments

  • Perhaps this question could be reworked, so instead of being "What Pikmin 1/2 area would you most like to see remastered using Pikmin 3's engine?", it could be "What area would you most like to see brought back and updated in a future Pikmin game?". That way it wouldn't be so unrealistic, and could also cover Pikmin 3 areas. Though, the resulting poll would have a lot of options. Perhaps some of the areas in Pikmin and their Pikmin 2 counterparts could be combined in the poll options. — Soprano(talk) 01:36, August 26, 2021 (EDT)
    • That does sound better, though like you said, it'd have too many options. Maybe I'd forgo the P3 options entirely, since those still look great by modern standards, but then we'd end up right back on the original poll... — {EspyoT} 13:06, August 26, 2021 (EDT)
  • It's worth noting that modders have recently managed to remaster Pikmin and Pikmin 2 areas in Pikmin 3's engine. Without a rewrite, this poll isn't worth asking at all anymore. — Soprano(talk) 00:00, October 3, 2021 (EDT)

What do you feel about glitches in the series?

  • I reproduce them a lot!
  • I'm always trying to find them!
  • I like seeing them be found and investigated.
  • I think they're dangerous.
  • I don't know of almost any glitch.

Support

  1. (Nominator:) A niche topic, but with broad enough answers that could poll all audiences. I definitely recommend everyone suggests better answers, though. — {EspyoT} 16:10, April 2, 2019 (EDT)

  • There's a few too many options again, but an interesting topic. — Bossclips(talk) 13:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
  • What about "I read about them, but avoid using them myself?" 1337Walrus (talk) 06:45, December 1, 2020 (EST)
  • I feel like "how do you feel about glitches" is a bit too vague of a question, since you could get a lot of similar (but different enough) answers to it. However, I'm not sure how you could make the question better. Midnight blue (talk) 18:37, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
  • I'll note that I only supported this poll idea after I got interested in glitches in the series, which shows that it's a bit of a weird question to ask to people who haven't really thought about glitches much. — Soprano(talk) 01:28, September 16, 2022 (EDT)

What is your favorite Bulborb type?

  • Red Bulborb
  • Hairy Bulborb
  • Orange Bulborb
  • Whiptongue Bulborb
  • Spotty Bulbear
  • Emperor Bulblax
  • Empress Bulblax
  • Fiery Bulblax

Support

  1. (Nominator:) Since we did Pikmin types, why not do Bulborbs? We dont have any polls around enemies (that I know of), so this can be cool and unique. The Bulborb is also as recognizable as the Pikmin themselves, and are part of the biggest family in the series (grub-dog). This also includes Bulblaxes and Bulbears, but we can get rid of them if there are too many options. I also think Bulborb Larvae are too similar to Dwarf Bulborbs (same with Dwarf Bulbears) even though they're technically grub-dogs. — CrazyCow October 1, 2019

  • I wonder if we could tweak the question a bit to be what the user thinks is the cutest, or which they would rather have as a pet. — {EspyoT} 18:07, October 2, 2019 (EDT)
    • Yeah, I like the pet idea. — CrazyCow October 13, 2019
    • I also like it; a "Which Bulborb type would you rather have as a pet?" question is a fun and quirky question that would get people to think. — Soprano(talk) 22:55, December 13, 2021 (EST)
  • Not much opportunity for discussion on this one other than "it look cute :)". Maybe if it was something like "which bulborb is the hardest to combat", and the list was shortened to only the more difficult ones. — Bossclips(talk) 13:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
  • Maybe we could ask the question of which one is hardest/most annoying to fight, since I think players would have something to say about that. Midnight blue (talk) 18:45, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
    • That might not be very interesting, since the bosses would obviously win. — {EspyoT} 12:04, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

  • Pikmin
  • Pikmin 2
  • Pikmin 3
  • Hey! Pikmin

  • Hey! and 2 seem outclassed in this poll. — Bossclips(talk) 13:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
    • Actually yeah, H!P probably doesn't make much sense since it's in a genre of its own. Don't get what you mean about 2 being outclassed though. Should I remove H!P from the options? — {EspyoT} 13:25, June 1, 2021 (EDT)
      • Hey! Pikmin still has area design, even if it's done in a totally different way to the 3D games. It's still comparable enough in my opinion. — Soprano(talk) 03:01, August 8, 2021 (EDT)
        • I don't think it's fair to compare the design of stages from a 2D puzzle-ish side scroller to those of 3D real-time strategy games. They're naturally going to be designed differently to suit their respective gameplay styles (and limitations of the hardware.) But since Hey Pikmin doesn't have any peers in the series, there's not really anything close you can compare it to. So I'm not sure on this one. Midnight blue (talk) 18:55, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
          • Guess that's settled, no H!P. — {EspyoT} 12:04, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

What would the optimal number of areas in a Pikmin game be?

  • 1 big area
  • 2 to 3
  • 4 to 5
  • 6 to 8
  • More than 8

Support

  1. (Nominator:) Another fanon-style poll, asking about the number of areas in the ideal Pikmin game. It could also be phrased as "If you were designing a Pikmin game, how many areas would it have?" It may leave out a lot of nuance (such as area size), and it may have a lot of options (edit: I reduced the number of options), but it could still be a good poll. — Soprano(talk) 04:28, June 21, 2021 (EDT)
  2. It's better now with the condensed options. Sure, why not? — {EspyoT} 11:37, June 27, 2021 (EDT)

So far, all of the main series Pikmin games have been re-released on a later console. How do you feel about this?

  • I think the re-releases are great and that Pikmin games should be re-released on more consoles.
  • I think the re-releases that already exist are good and there doesn't need to be more of them.
  • I like the re-releases, but Nintendo should be prioritizing new games, even if it means there are fewer total Pikmin games.
  • I don't like the re-releases; the original games are good enough.

Support

  1. (Nominator:) I noticed that the Super Mario Wiki has polls that are much more specific than ours with much more detailed possible answers. It's hard for us to have very specific polls since we have far less content, but we can still try some polls with more complex answers like this, for more variation in the styles of poll. The re-releases of the Pikmin series is a good option for this. — Soprano(talk) 18:32, August 21, 2021 (EDT)

  • Would an answer along the lines of "I want to, but I can't get any" be viable? There doesn't exist a lot of official Pikmin merch, and a good portion of it has only ever been released in Japan. —Midnight blue (talk) 19:08, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
    • Hm, on one hand, I feel like it makes sense to include it, but on the other hand, I feel like that'd be the majority of votes. Folks in countries where merch is sold don't read Pikipedia much, I don't think. Then again, people can just buy exported merch online... I really don't know. — {EspyoT} 12:04, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

There are a few groups of enemies which are all variants of each other, such as Bulborbs, Spectralids, and Dweevils. What are your thoughts on there being multiple variants of enemies?

  • I think there should be more variants of enemies.
  • I think the existing games have a good amount of enemy variants.
  • I think there should be less variants of enemies.
  • I think enemy variants should be implemented differently.

  • Is this really such a good idea as it is? The S.S. Dolphin doesn't speak (although Olimar mentions it does, we never see it), and the S.S. Drake only spits some info about collected items. Only the Hocotate ship and the S.S. Dolphin II actually have any personality, and the Hocotate ship blows the other one out of the park, no contest. Maybe we should change the poll to be about the ship's exterior design? — {EspyoT} 16:24, September 19, 2021 (EDT)
    • Yep, changing the poll to be about exterior design makes a lot of sense. I originally intended the question to be about comparing the different aspects of the ships, like the way the S.S. Dolphin adds new parts and the Hocotate ship's personality, but I realize that it's awkward to compare different attributes. Exterior design will make for a more interesting poll. — Soprano(talk) 20:29, September 26, 2021 (EDT)

Do you think Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin should return in a future game's Story Mode?

  • Yes, same as they were in Pikmin 2
  • Yes, but with a notable redesign
  • No

Support

  1. (Nominator:) Similar to the cave poll from a few years ago, this poll asks the popular topic of whether Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin should return. The fact that there are 2 "yes" options and 1 "no" option could be seen as encouraging vote-splitting though. — Soprano(talk) 17:36, October 8, 2021 (EDT)

    • In the Pikcord, I've seen a few people against the idea of Purple and White Pikmin returning. (I'd probably vote for that option, or the redesign option.) And the "no opinion" option was taken from the cave poll from a few years ago; I wouldn't have included it otherwise. — Soprano(talk) 17:48, October 9, 2021 (EDT)
      • Hm, the other poll's option was more about people wanting to voice their opinion, but being pleased with either outcome, as opposed to just not having an opinion. But yeah, in retrospect I don't think the cave poll's option made sense either. — {EspyoT} 13:19, October 11, 2021 (EDT)

    • First game. That's the issue with having a series and game with the same name. I'm not too sure about the merge, though. The questions are somewhat similar, but I feel they're still somewhat different. Burrhead2 (talk) 19:33, June 18, 2022 (EDT)

Which is the most annoying enemy in Pikmin 3?

  • Flighty Joustmite

  1. (Nominator:) This is more of a fun and silly poll. There are a bunch of enemies in the Pikmin series that are often considered annoying by players, and it could be interesting to have a poll on which one people find the most annoying. The options I picked are enemies commonly noted as particularly annoying. Which is your favorite hazard?

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Electricity
  • Poison

Support

  1. (Nominator:) A simple poll to see which of the four basic hazards people like the most. The additional hazards of crushing, stabbing, and explosions could potentially be added to the list of options, though I think it would be better with just 4. — Soprano(talk) 16:46, November 24, 2022 (EST)
  2. As per the reply to my opposition, if this poll is about hazards from a game design perspective, I think this could be quite interesting. But it might need to be renamed to specify this. I also am absolutely not opposed to having more options. I guess I've been nudged over the fence and a bit into "support" territory. -Burrhead2 (talk) 11:24, November 30, 2022 (EST)

Oppose

  1. Does one have a favorite hazard? If so it would be the least annoying one, cause the least favorite hazard would go right to the insta-kill one (Electricity). --PastelP (talk) 15:03, November 25, 2022 (EST)
  2. This one feels kind of... iffy. I'm not sure how one could really have a favorite hazard - I mean, they're all bad, right? People would just gravitate towards whatever does the least damage and/or is the easiest to avoid. Fire, water, and poison are also more-or-less the same thing. Unless this poll is about people's favorite ways to kill Pikmin. And that's simultaneously fantastic, and something that would probably never happen. I'm open to changing my mind, but for right now I'll stick (rather lightly) to this corner. -Burrhead2 (talk) 20:04, November 29, 2022 (EST)
    • I was originally going to word this as "Which is the best hazard", to make it clear that the question is about game design, but poll ideas in the past that have featured "the best" have often had that replaced with "your favorite" because it makes it clearer that the poll is subjective. But considering these reactions, I think that using "the best" would result in a more useful poll. Do you think it would be better if it was reworded in that way? — Soprano(talk) 21:59, November 29, 2022 (EST)

  1. (Nominator:) We've had boss polls in the past for Pikmin 3 and Hey! Pikmin, so we may as well have one for Pikmin 2, which also has clearly-defined bosses. However, with 12 options, this would be our largest poll yet, and would take up a lot of space on the Main Page. — Soprano(talk) 19:11, November 24, 2022 (EST)

  • I like the idea, but I think there's too many choices for one poll. Would it be alright to split the poll up? --PastelP (talk) 15:03, November 25, 2022 (EST)
    • I think the number of choices is fine. But if it had to be split, it could be only bosses that were introduced in Pikmin 2, or only bosses that appear in Pikmin 1 and 2. ~ Contributions Cheepy (talk)
      • Perhaps, but those are pretty arbitrary ways to split it... I don't think there's any way that a split could be done in a non-arbitrary way. — Soprano(talk) 15:31, November 25, 2022 (EST)
        • The poll could be split up into bosses per area (but the Empress Bulblax kinda messes that up a bit), and there could be some sort of mystical fifth poll with the winners of the other four, to find out which is the best... or maybe not. I don't know.
But I'm calling it right now, if this poll makes it, the winner's gonna be the Waterwraith. -Burrhead2 (talk) 19:51, November 29, 2022 (EST)
          • A tournament-style poll series could be quite an interesting idea. To avoid having it take nearly a year, each poll could be 2 weeks long, with 3 or 4 initial rounds and one final round. But the grouping of bosses into initial rounds would be quite arbitrary and it would affect the outcome significantly. I'm not sure if there's a good way to do this. — Soprano(talk) 21:59, November 29, 2022 (EST)

What game did you start the series with?

  • Pikmin (GameCube)
  • New Play Control! Pikmin (Wii)
  • Pikmin 2 (GameCube)
  • New Play Control! Pikmin 2 (Wii)
  • Pikmin 3 (Wii U)
  • Pikmin 3 Deluxe (Switch)
  • Hey! Pikmin
  • Pikmin Bloom

  1. (Nominator:) This exact question has been asked before, in late 2018. However, I think it's worth asking it again, as Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pikmin Bloom have been more popular than previous games and so may change the poll results significantly. Ideally this question would be asked before the release of Pikmin 4, though we could also ask it a few months after that game's release. — Soprano(talk) 22:37, December 2, 2022 (EST)

When do you consider Pikmin 2 beaten, rather than completed?

  1. (Nominator:) I've wondered what other people's opinions on this question are, so a Pikipedia poll is a great place to ask. Considering that the game's credits play not far into it, probably means that by the strictest definition, the Wistful Wild is post-game content, and some people may see it that way.
