A Mamuta and a Red 10-Pellet in the Distant Spring's Challenge Mode.
The Pikmin encounter Dwarf Red Bulborbs and a Red Bulborb in the Distant Spring's challenge mode.

The Distant Spring is the fourth area Olimar discovers on his first visit to the Pikmin Planet. It is part of a huge wetland at the edge of the forest (and thusly named "Distant Spring"). The terrain is mostly aquatic with unique creatures spread throughout. This land also is home to most of Captain Olimar's missing ship parts, of which there are ten. The Perplexing Pool bears resemblance to the Distant Spring. They feature similar maps and similar looking ledges, and the same tree trunks. However, several gates are gone in the Perplexing Pool.

General Layout

The Distant Spring is the largest area in Pikmin. Water covers a great part of the area. In the center lies the landing site, along with several hollow three stumps that may result very confusing to the player. To the west is a small lake where the Number 2 Ionium Jet and the Chronos Reactor can be found. To the north, a wall maze with the UV Lamp can be found, blocked by a small path full with Spotty Bulbears and Dwarf Bulbears. Finally, to the east lies a gigantic lake with some islands where the Smoky Progg can be found.
