In-depth ramblings about the fine differences in every clip of the GC/NPC! P1 enemy reel; any stone left unturned was done so unintentionally
General stuff
The lighting generally tends to be a bit different in these clips, whether that be due to video quality/compression, colour grading, or actual lighting parameter differences. Everything seems a bit desaturated, The Forest of Hope is greener, The Forest Navel has more fog and shadows and seemingly completely black (or rather no) ambient lighting in a lot of clips, The Distant Spring is has thick greenish and pinkish fog in certain clips (maybe they recorded some clips in Challenge Mode?). The Impact Site and The Final Trial look about the same in specifics though.
The camera is in all sorts of positions it'd never be during regular gameplay.
Creature shadows are weird and often get cut off by the terrain.
Olimar
The clips of the Armored Cannon Beetle, Beady Long Legs, Breadbug, Burrowing Snagret, Candypop Bud, Dwarf Bulborb, Fiery Blowhog, Honeywisp, Iridescent Flint Beetle, Pellet Posy, Puffstool, Puffy Blowhog, Sheargrub, Shearwig, Spotty Bulbear, Spotty Bulborb, Water Dumple, and Yellow Wollywog use an older model for Olimar. The main difference is the very orangish red beacon glow sprite that ends in a brighter red light rather than pure white, and also has an issue where its modelled beacon will frequently get in the way of the glow sprite and make the very centre of his beacon's light appear darker than the glow sprite itself. Conversely, the Dwarf Bulbear, Emperor Bulblax, Swooping Snitchbug, Goolix, Mamuta, Pearly Clamclamp, Smoky Progg, Wogpole, and Wollywog clips all appear to use the final Olimar model. Also, I think the orangish beacon glow might've carried over into the Olimar icon onto the final game's file select screen.
Armored Cannon Beetle
The indent in the terrain where the Radiation Canopy would be is flipped (the footage isn't, the plants are in their final positions), the indent is instead occupied by a tin can rather than a ship part (implying it may have been inside The Forest of Hope's Armored Cannon Beetle once upon a time), though without any bomb-rocks, and there's a modelled tree sprout behind the arena that appears to have been moved over to the right in the final version of the map (also you cam see that part of the sprout is floating above the ground).
Beady Long Legs
The lighting of the edge of the arena's sand bugs out a bit and becomes slightly too dark as soon as Beady starts falling, and its shadow becomes visible. This does not happen in the final game. Believe me, I tested.
Breadbug
The Breadbug doesn't properly face the direction it's being dragged while losing a tug of war, and due to not following the pellet's rotation, shifts both it and the pellet back to their correct Breadbug dragging positions when the Pikmin let go for the Onion suck-up process. Three Pikmin are also carrying that 1-pellet, which also explains why to kill a Breadbug in 1 you have to have a carrying Pikmin clip through its body during the tug of war process. A group of Honeywisps can be seen in the background idly flying by in areas they're nowhere to be found in in the vanilla game; we'll be seeing a lot of this. The Yellow Onion also appears to be absent from its landing position in this clip, likely to prevent it getting in the way in this footage. There's also a regular white(?) gate in the far back in an area no gate lies in the final game. This might be the fog again, but the back wall of the area appears to be completely missing as well.
Burrowing Snagret
Two of the Snagrets appear far closer to the edge of their plateau than in the final game, leading to all the Snagrets bunching up. You might be able to force a similar scenario with enough luck and effort, but I doubt you'd be able to do it in the same place as the clip. The bridges to the Sagittarius (which no ship part is present in its spot despite both bridges being unbuilt) have a drastically different, crystalline design that shows no obvious spot to be built from like the final bridges. They also have ending bits at both sides even when unbuilt implying you might've once been able to build bridges from both sides? The dent in the Sagittarius' island which allows for easier throwing of Blue Pikmin up is also an absent feature of the terrain. The placement of the plants behind the plateau also appears different; mainly the higher patch of clovers appears more rightward while the lower patch seems to be missing entirely. It's hard to tell but I believe the right (from the perspective of the clip's camera) cluster of leaves is also missing (the left causer is right by the rock between the Sagittarius' spot and the Snagret plateau).
Candypop Bud
The Lapis Lazuli Candypop is in a position where it doesn't appear in the final game, a Spotty Bulborb and some of its Dwarf counterparts are in a place their respective Bulbear variants would be found in the final game (though only day 15 onwards for the Dwarves). The concrete structure it's right next to also appears shorter, is missing its third layer, and the ramp used to access the walkable bits in the final game is instead a continuation of the first layer. It's a bit hard to tell, but I believe the smaller cheese-wedge shaped concrete bit with the yellowish wet stone texture on the first layer isn't present in this footage. The background is also lacking a Golden Candypop Bud, the plinth the Chronos Reactor usually sits on appears vacant and much larger, extending a far larger amount into the background than the concrete structure there in the final game. The area where the #2 Ionium Jet would be obtained also appears to be another unwalkable piece of background scenery, with the features that'd allow for walkability, plus the puzzle's associated geyser being removed. In place of the area where the #2 Ionium Jet would be carryed out is an extension of that previously mentioned unwalkable background scenery, and a separated concrete block like the one you'd find the Golden Candypop Bud on in the final game; Parallel to it in fact. It appears a bit higher up, though. Interestingly, it appears to be walled on all but one side with a small barrier, much like the final game's dropoff point for the #2 Ionium Jet, implying that throwing Pikmin up the two concrete blocks was the original puzzle. This explains the weird geometry of the #2 Ionium Jet's structure in the final game, though it appears to have been moved backwards when joined with the #2 Ionium Jet's structure.
Dwarf Bulbear
A Mamuta can be seen in the back half of The Distant Spring, roughly where a Swooping Snitchbug would be in the final game. The direction that causes the Bulbears' eyes to change colour to dark blue also appears altered from the final game, being southeast rather than southwest. The gradient range of the Bulbears' eyes can take also appears far smaller, with their eye colour being able to completely change from one solid colour to another in under a second just by turning. The rightmost alive Dwarf Bulbear also strangely remains idle throughout the footage, despite the fact that it would've definitely been on the offensive in the final game, as Dwarves are extremely quick to react in final P1.
Dwarf Bulborb
Again, Bulborbs taking the place of Bulbears in The Distant Spring. The Crimson Candypop Bud (and also maybe the geyser leading to it? It's hard to tell) on the nearby stump is also missing. The Spotty Bulborb's spots also don't appear to oscillate in size, or at least only do so extremely subtly. Notably the fog in this clip is an outlier as it matches closely with the final game, unlike most other creature record clips taking place in The Distant Spring. This implies Bulbears were implemented quite late into development.
Emperor Bulblax
The Final Trial's grass appears darker, less saturated, and bluer than in the final game. I think it might be an alternate edit of the final game's, based on the patches of dirt. Notably, the out of bounds terrain, which uses a separate texture, is the same colour as in the final game, showing that it isn't just weird colour-grading/compression/lighting. The area around the boss arena seems hillier and UV mapped differently (again based on the patches of dirt) as well. Additionally, the perimeter wall also appears bit taller than in the final game, with a less horizontally stretched texture as well. Finally, the pipe and the bomb-rocks it'd usually contain are also missing.
Fiery Blowhog
The first few frames of this clip reveal a lot. The Blue Onion is in its usual landing site, but appears inactive safe for its lower being bloomed. Blue Pikmin are also shown being used in the footage. The Yellow Onion also appears completely absent, much like in the Breadbug's clip. The black stone gate connecting the beach to the centre hill's second layer and the white stone gate connecting the centre hill's first layer and back half are both replaced with regular gates of the same colour. The pair of bridges leading up the centre hill are absent. One of the Ionium Jets (presumably the #1 Ionium Jet) can be seen on the bit of land between where the centre hill's two bridges would be, a place where it can never be transported to in the final game. Again a pack of Honeywisps can be seen flying idly by in the background, seemingly in the same area as the Breadbug's clip. The two pellet posies near where the centre hill's higher bridge would start construction are placed slightly differently, being closer together than in the final game. There is also a pair of pellet posies right near where you'd fetch bomb-rocks from the rimstone dams that are absent in the final game. The grass patches near the start of the centre hill's higher bridge and the end of the centre hill's lower bridge also appear to be absent (though they could've just been plucked ahead of time). Olimar appears to get up from damage far slower than in the final game, as only slight remains of the fire he almost certainly got burnt by can be seen, compared to the final game where he's almost certainly still engulfed in smoke. In P1, the Fiery Blowhog's fire hitbox only exists for only about half a second after it fires too, despite what its fire particles indicate, so it isn't a timing thing. Also the camera clips through the floor during part of this clip, lol.
Swooping Snitchbug
All the Pellet Posies in this clip are seen facing the same direction; south. In the final game these Pellet Posies all face north instead. The pair of Pellet Posies closest to base in the footage are instead a single Pellet Posy in the final game. Both of those Pellet Posies also appear positioned slightly differently compared to the final game's singular one. The Dwarf Bulborbs and Sheargrubs are also absent, though they could've just been killed earlier in the day/on a previous day for better filming.
Goolix
Another pretty packed one: The Goolix is present in The Forest Navel obviously (it's pretty much impossible to not notice that), but so are many Dwarf Bulborbs, from the beach to one on the centre hill. There is also a Lapis Lazuli Candypop Bud and a triplet of unbloomed Pellet Posies on the sand too, the latter of which not appearing in this part of the area, and the former of which not appearing in this area to begin with in the final game. Something appears to be where the Automatic Gear is in the final, though due to the darkness it's hard to tell what it is. My best guess is a red 5-pellet. The centre hill's two bridges are again missing and the black stone wall connecting the beach and the hill's second layer is a while stone wall in the clip, differing from the Fiery Blowhog's clip. There is a loose red 5-pellet by where you'd start construction on the centre hill's upper bridge in a place where two Pellet Posies would be in the final game. There are also some enemies cloaked in shadow in the water right by the shoreline, though it's hard to tell what they are, given, y'know, they're cloaked in shadow. Based on their shines though, I bet they're Yellow Wollywogs. The Pellet Posies near the Automatic Gear's location's stick and the geyser closest to the Blue Onion's regular landing site also appear absent. Overall, the layout seems so different from any other pre-release clip that I have to wonder if this was an early Challenge Mode version of The Forest Navel. It would've at least been a lot more interesting than the version we got.
Honeywisp
Honeywisps in The Distant Spring; somewhere they never appear in the final game. Again in pack formation and out and about without being disturbed. The backmost one initially flying away from the rest of the group also teleports in position and switches directions to the same one as the rest of the group right before the clip's sutoff point. Y'know, with this and the lack of nectar grass in some of this footage, I have to wonder if these guys were the only way of obtaining nectar at one point in development.
Iridescent Flint Beetle
An Iridescent Flint Beetle in The Distant Spring; somewhere they never appear in the final game. There's a Breadbug nest where the Citadel of Spiders would be in the Perplexing Pool, finally giving purpose to that weird stump. A version of the Extraordinary Bolt with a green highlight instead of red is visible on the path to the Progg egg; far from where it appears and how it appears in the final game. The Yellow Wollywogs, Water Dumples, (and maybe also the asian marshweed-like plant, though it's really hard to tell), though they could've just been killed and had their spoils moved ahead of time (besides the marshweed of course). The Yellow 1-pellet the Flint Beetle Drops also gets flipped upside down by the tiniest bump in the terrain somehow, which I don't think can happen in the final game? Well that or this clip shows an extraordinary occurence by pure accident.
Mamuta
It's in The Distant Spring, a place it's usually never found outside of Challenge Mode, in the rough place a Swooping Snitchbug would be in the final game like in the Dwarf Bulbear's clip. Whoop-de-do, that's it, that's all I could find. I'd wonder if the shoots were absent but there's a wall (or gate, to use the correct game-specific terminology) in the way, plus I'm fairly sure you can see the leaf of one of them poking out from behind the white mossy stump.
Pearly Clamclamp (I'm not calling it "Clampshell", EU NPC! P1)
Again, it's in The Distant Spring when it isn't in the final. Much like in the Candypop Bud's clip, the concrete structure you'd usually traverse to reach the #2 Ionium Jet also appears to be just background decoration, though it's visible in much better detail, with there being no walkable space and no geyser to take you up. Also, it appears a bit shorter than the final game's structure.
Pellet Posy
The Pellet Post is facing the opposite direction compared to in the final game. There's a red 1-pellet in the spot a red 5-pellet would be on day 1. The nearby stump's geometry appears different and more slope-y, with less bad UV mapping to boot. The part of the rock directly connected to the nearby stump slopes higher up, following the older stump model's side. The Dolphin's model appears to be different, with overall far less detail and component, including but not limited to colourful wiring, the tractor beam's chute and the cockpit are both connected smaller golden ball that matches the colour of the parts it connects to, rather than the large dark blue box both components connect to on the final Dolphin. No mounts exist for the Ionium Jets. The inside of the hull appears to be a white or light grey. The Dolphin's back lights also appear to instead be rivets on this incomplete Dolphin model. The details around the nose of the Dolphin also appear different, but due to the low quality of the footage, it's too hard to make out exactly what's going on there, other than it appears more blue and yellow than the final Dolphin's maroon and black.
Puffstool
Its arena is far brighter than that of the final game's (well that or different lighting paramaters are in effect again). The Glowcaps appear far dimmer than they do in the final game, lacking the luminance their texture has. Their glow effects also get culled far more aggressively than in the final game, disappearing as soon as the centre of the effect leaves the screen Finally, there's this weird, stick-like but probably-not-a-stick reddish brown structure (plant?) in the background on the left. It resembles nothing else in the game to my knowledge.
Puffy Blowhog
The bomb-rocks appear absent from the skull they're usually found under, though they could've just been taken proper to the recording of this clip. There is also a Golden Candypop Bud directly behind the Puffy Blowhog, again giving purpose an otherwise empty and unloved stump in the final game. The black gate that would be touching the white mossy stump (leftmost stump in this clip) also appears to be missing.
Sheargrub
The Male and Female Sheargrubs are found in a part of The Forest of Hope they usually never inhabit, right behind the "impossible to tell if it's absent or not" white gate leading to the Yellow Onion in the final game. Speaking of the Yellow Onion, it's entirely missing from this part of the area, which isn't that out of the ordinary, especially given the presence of Blue Pikmin, but the Pellet Posy right nearby being always yellow is. The Spotty Bulborb is also facing a different direction, which likely explains why the terrain its on leaves its back so annoying to swarm in the final game, and its Dwarf Bulborb buddy is moved closer to where the Yellow Onion would be, to accommodate the Sheargrubs. The White stone gate leading to the final area's main Sheargrub patch is instead a regular black gate, with the bomb-rocks that'd be right by it also being absent. The Extraordinary Bolt is also on an OOB ledge behind and to the right of where the Yellow Onion would be. Also, again with the Spotty Bulborb spots not oscillating.
Shearwig
There appear to be fewer Mandiblards than there normally would be in the part of the area the clip takes place in. A Shearwig (not two, you can jut barely see one buried in the ground and a Male Sheargrub are left unaccounted for in the clip, though they could just be already dead with their corpse disposed of, or fully buried in the dirt. The Golden Candypop Bud usually nearby is absent with the rock formation it rests on also appearing to have slightly different geometry, due to the lack of a need to accommodate for it. The geyser leading to the Golden Candypop Bud is also absent, as you'd otherwise be able to see its water effect through the darkness. An orangish-yellow Gravity Jumper can be seen in the background, glowing. A pack of idly flying Honeywisps can be seen in the background near the Puffstool arena, where a Wollywog is in the final game. The Puffstool arena appears vacant, though the creature could've just already been killed, on any previous day too, as it never respawns.
Smoky Progg
The Smoky Progg has greenish eyes, rather than pinkish ones. I know huge difference. In all seriousness though, it is the most major visual difference in a creature compared to the final game. The Dolphin's again using a far simpler model (likely the same one as in the Pellet Posy's footage), with the only part visible being the main engine, which is impossible to see in the final game, as although there are 14 ship parts not represented on the Dolphin, several of those are in The Distant Spring and The Final Trial. This early Dolphin, in addition to having a much simpler inside that's missing almost all non-part components seen in the final game's Dolphin, including all the components that only appear after upgrading the Dolphin's range, which could not be assessed in the Pellet Posy's clip, it has a grey, presumably bare metal inside, compared to the final Dolphin's painted metal inside. The Blue Onion is also missing from the landing site, while in the final game it's impossible to reach The Distant Spring through normal gameplay without having obtained Blues. The Crimson Candypop Bud is also missing like in the Dwarf Bulborb's clip, and the black stone gate nearby is white instead. The grass patches again also appear to be missing, though again they could've just been plucked ahead of time. Is is very suspicious, though. The climbing stick also appears to face a different angle than in the final game; north instead of the final northwest (directions going by the map).
Spotty Bulbear
Same things with the eyes as in the Dwarf Bulbear's clip, and the Crimson Candypop Bud and its associated geyser are still missing from their respective spots. There appear to be no fire geysers in the central stump cluster, as well. Additionally, the other Bulbear in the footage appears differently angled compared to both the final game, and the Bulborb seen in the Candypop Bud's clip. The layout of the terrain appears the same as in the Candypop Bud's clip as well, though due to the different camera position, more of the elaborate concrete structure that houses in the UV Lamp in the final game is visible; namely a large, flat entrance onto the structure from the opposite side as the final game, seemingly taking the place of at least part of the large unwalkable block of concrete right by the UV Lamp's plinth that's only a little higher than the walkable concrete area.
Spotty Bulborb
This clip has similar differences to the Sheargrub's clip, those being the Pellet Posy where the Yellow Onion starts inactive, the Extraordinary Bolt on a ledge by where the Yellow Onion would be, and the white stone gate near where the Yellow Onion would be leading to the Whimsical Radar instead being a regular black gate with no bomb-rocks next to it. The Pellet Posies in this area are also all permanently yellow and much like several other clips are all facing the same direction. The three Pellet Posies on the left and one of the Pellet Posies on the right. are also absent from the final game. Unlike the Sheargrub's clip however, the Spotty Bulborb closest to where the Yellow Onion would be appears to be in its final position, though its Dwarf Bulborb companion is still behind it, closer to the Yellow Onion's starting position. The tin can with bomb-rocks in it closest to where the Yellow Onion starts also appears to be missing, presumably along with its bomb-rocks.
Water Dumple
The place they're found in this clip (seemingly near the Repair-type Bolt's concrete structure) is somewhere no Water Dumples inhabit in the final game. Additionally, maybe it's just the compression/colour grading but their shine looks really weird and due to that I think it might use a different texture; they turn greenish and brownish in some places, and in others theybecome almost pure black. Additionally, a Pearly Clamclamp with the Positron Generator can be seen in the background sitting right by the east side of the path to the Progg egg.
Wogpole
The Positron Generator's out in the open, roughly in the same spot as the Pearly Clamclamp that held it in the Water Dumple's clip (though the Clamclamp itself is missing). There is also something on the path to the Progg egg that's far away enough to be almost unidentifiable. Almost though; the best candidate seems to two Dwarf Bulbears. The Honeywisps and green Extraordinary Bolt in the background also point to this using the same enemy layout as Iridescent Flint Beetle's clip. Other than those, the remaining enemy placements seem almost much identical to the final version's.
Wollywog
The Analog Computer takes the place of the Anti-Dioxin Filter (and also might be placed slightly differently. Same with the enemies, though it's hard to tell for both due to the Pikmin in the equation). Next.
Yellow Wollywog
The weird old two-sided bridges return, now with a light stone appearance. There are two Yellow Wollywogs by the shoreline of the far beach that are absent in the final game. The far beach's Shearwigs' starting positions seem offset, as they appear to be sticking their mouths out of the underwater sand in a line, right by the shore. A Spotty Bulborb takes the place of the final game's Spotty Bulbear, and is sitting in a slightly more south-easterly position (parallel to the skill closest to it) while facing southwest-ish unlike the final game's Bulbear who faces south more straight-on. Also its spots still aren't oscillating It's hard to tell, but there don't appear to be any bomb-rocks visible underneath the beach's skulls. Whether this is due to the same reason they're absent from the rest of the creature record's footage or they're conveniently hidden from view is uncertain. The concrete structure the Repair-type Bolt rests on in the final game again appears to be another bit of unwalkable background scenery. It's missing both the lower walkway, and appears to not have any barriers unlike the final game's version of that structure. Finally, finally, the Bowsprit is on the far shore instead of the Massage Machine, and appears in about the same position as the final game's Lapis Lazuli Candypop Bud which is also absent in this footage.
