New Play Control! Pikmin 2 is part of the New Play Control! series, a port of Pikmin 2 to the Wii. It was released in Japan, Europe, and Australia in 2009, but not in North America until June 2012.[2] Unlike the first game's Wii version, the box art for every region is the same as for the GameCube release, within a New Play Control border; the cover, however, may be turned over and replaced to show the full size cover. In North America, it was released as part of the Nintendo Selects, so it has a different border than releases in other places.

New features

The most notable feature, as with Pikmin, is the different control scheme, which allows pointing at the screen to aim the cursor. This version also has widescreen support and the graphics are slightly enhanced over the GameCube title. Other smaller differences include:

  • The Man-at-Legs is invincible while rising from the ground.
  • If a player moves down a floor, he or she is forced to save as a player cannot remove a memory-card to prevent saving.
  • The game camera is modified from the original game.[3]
