''Pikmin 3'' is the third installment in the Pikmin franchise. It was released on July 13th in Japan, July 26th in Europe, July 27th in Australia, and August 4th for America for the Nintendo Wii U console.[[File:Pikmin3Boxart.png|thumb]]
Elements new to the series include two new Pikmin types, the ability to throw leaders, using three leaders at a time, several different control schemes, and a handy information terminal, the KopPad. It is the first original entry in the Pikmin franchise in 9 years, since the original release of Pikmin 2 on the Gamecube in 2004.

'''Plot:'''The planet of Koppai is facing an inevitable doomsday due to a booming population growth that resulted in the depletion of all food resources. Just when they were about to lose hope when the SPEROs returned with no data, the final one arrives with coordinates to PNF-404, which the Koppaites believe to be an uncharted planet.
{|
Three explorers are sent to PNF-404 to retrieve seeds to bring back and cultivate on Koppai; Alph, a young engineer, Brittany, a botanist, and Charlie, the captain of their ship, the S.S. Drake. As they approach the atmosphere of PNF-404, the Drake malfunctions and ejects the three explorers before plummeting to the surface of the planet.

Mushroom battles are a feature of Pikmin Bloom. Mushrooms of various colors and sizes appear around the world, and players can send groups of Pikmin to attack them. Multiple players can join a battle, and participants will receive fruit and a postcard as a reward, and a score that measures how well they did. Up to three mushroom battles can be done by a player in a day, but additional battles can be joined by spending a Mushroom Recharge Ticket.

Random excerpts
Research from our most recent expedition has confirmed the presence of candypop buds in subterranean regions. Considering the micro-ecologies this plant has been found in, one could surmise that it could be found in any cavern, regardless of geographic region. Tossing Pikmin into this flower always produces white Pikmin seeds, regardless of the color of Pikmin tossed in. In many cases, plants with small leaves typically have limited photosynthetic capabilities, and thus must find alternate means of obtaining nutrients, with parasitic and predatory behavior being most common. The candypop could be considered one such example.
