Septic Swamp (どくぬまに うかぶ みち?, lit.: "Floating Path on the Toxic Swamp") is the second main area in the Lushlife Murk. This area has several poison lakes that can be crossed by walking on top of bottles bobbing up and down on the liquid's surface. The bottles have their bottom up, and while some only bob a bit, others can actually go down and be completely submersed before going back up. The level at which each bottle dunks is visible, since from that level of the bottle down, the glass is coated in dripping poison liquid. With this, the player must time their movements to make it on to the next bottle successfully, and avoid falling into the poisonous bog.

Cutscenes[edit]

Cutscene Screenshot Trigger Description
Bottle in a chasm The bottle cutscene in the Septic Swamp. After the part with the dirt block that blocks some Red Pikmin off, the player goes to normal land and advances a bit forward. Olimar and some Pikmin notice something up ahead. One Pikmin rushes off near the chasm, but brakes before falling off the ledge. The other three Pikmin are running quickly behind, fail to break in time, and tackle the first Pikmin, resulting in all four falling down. As they do, however, a bottle rises up from the chasm and saves them from falling into the pool of poison. As the Pikmin get up to assess their safety, Olimar gets close, and the bottle starts lowering again. The Pikmin realize this, start panicking, and at the last moment, one jumps to the ledge Olimar is on. The next Pikmin jumps and grabs the one hanging on, and so on. Olimar bends down and holds on to the Pikmin, and ends up tossing them behind his back to safety before turning back to the group.
Seeding Dandelion seeds The seed cutscene in the Septic Swamp. After the doorway that leads to the Classical Sculpture's room, the player advances forward through the bottles, past the two Grabbits, and moves a bit forward. Four Red Pikmin are hanging on to Seeding Dandelion seeds, gently floating down. One by one, they let go, land on the floor, and run to Olimar's side.
