Pikmin 1+2 is a bundle of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, the Nintendo Switch ports of the original Pikmin and Pikmin 2. This bundle was released digitally on June 21st, 2023, for a cheaper price than buying both ports separately.[1] A physical version will be releasing in North America, Europe, and Japan on September 22nd, 2023.

Common changes

Both games have received their own changes compared to the previous versions, listed in the respective game's article. The following is a list of changes that were equally made to both games.

General

Controls

  • The games use an updated control scheme similar to that of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
    • Icon for the Right Stick on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0. is now used to freely control the camera. In order to swarm, the player must hold down Icon for the L button on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0. while tilting Icon for the Right Stick on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0..
    • Icon for the Left Stick click on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0. now resets the cursor.
  • A unique motion control scheme has been added in favor of the one in the New Play Control! games.
    • With these controls enabled, tilting the controller while holding Icon for the A button on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0. or Icon for the B button on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0. will move the cursor.
  • Pressing Icon for the A button on the Nintendo Switch. Edited version of the icon by ARMS Institute user PleasePleasePepper, released under CC-BY-SA 4.0. repeatedly for continued plucking is no longer required. Simply holding the button while plucking will have leaders continue until no more sprouts are left.

Graphics

  • The gameplay and UI are now rendered at a higher resolution.
    • Pre-rendered cutscenes appear to have been re-rendered and then AI upscaled.[2][3]
  • The number of Pikmin currently holding onto an object is now on the top half of of the carry number, like in Pikmin 3.
  • All references to the controls have been updated to reflect the new control scheme.

Other

  • The copyright on the title screens has been changed to "© Nintendo".
  • Attraction mode has been completely removed. When attraction mode should play, the title screen is just reloaded.
  • Despite being based off of the New Play Control! versions, the GameCube cursor is reused. The trail from the New Play Control! versions' cursor was left unchanged, meaning that it no longer connects to the cursor.

  • Game size: 2.1 GB.
  • Supported play modes: TV (1 or 2 players), tabletop (1 or 2 players), and handheld (1 player).
  • Supported controllers: two Joy-Cons, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
  • Supports cloud save data.
