Talk:Treasure
Naming[edit]
I was wondering, should treasures (and by extension fruits) have naming sections in case people want to decipher their names? I remember I was quite young when I started Pikmin 2, and I couldn't figure out what some of the treasure names meant. I can handle this task if it's okay to start. - It sure is. Remember we have a policy on it. Frankly, I don't see this policy much as "mandatory rules required for consistency" as it is "list of things that would be nice to talk about in a naming section". I'm slowly working on the enemy names, and I'd move on to treasures next, but if you want to go ahead, please do! — {EspyoT} 08:35, 26 September 2015 (EDT)

Pages and log entries for Hey! Pikmin treasures[edit]
I'm guessing the answer is yes, but are we planning on making individual pages for the treasures from Hey! Pikmin and linking to them from this page? I don't mean to rush anything, cause I know the game just came out a few days ago and information on it is just now coming in. I already have the names and log entries for all the treasures (and the Olimar amiibo) from the U.S. version of the game ready to be added, since I finished the game yesterday. I'm a new user, so I just wanted to touch base before trying anything. I'll have to familiarize myself with adding new pages and basic editing, but I'd be happy to help with content from the new game. Midnight blue (talk) 22:12, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
- Welcome! Yep, the idea is to have one article per treasure. Feel free to create them at will; when you're presented with the text box where you write the new article's content, there should be some buttons that preload a treasure article outline. You can use that to get one step ahead. — {EspyoT} 04:04, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- Right, now after looking around for a while, I have a potentially embarrassing question: how exactly do I create the new articles? I don't see an option for doing so anywhere on the side menus, and I don't get any option to create new pages when searching for an article that doesn't exist. I have noticed a few pages for some treasures that don't have any text in them (ie. have a yellow link), but it says I don't have permission to create those pages. Is it because I'm a new user? Midnight blue (talk) 19:14, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
- Don't be afraid to ask. There's a button to create new pages with on the main page, but the ways you used also work. Unfortunately, very new users cannot create pages. I'll see what we can do about lowering this restriction (which only existed because of spambots). — {EspyoT} 05:48, 1 August 2017 (EDT)

"Actions" in Pikmin 4[edit]
In Pikmin 4, some treasures can preform Actions, such as the Stone of Advancement opening and closing, and the Mechanical Harp playing a song. Should this be documented? GoldPikmin (talk) 00:42, September 12, 2023 (EDT)
Update treasure names to the ones in the Switch port of Pikmin 2[edit]
To remain consistent with the renamed enemies matching their current names, I suggest renaming the article names for certain Pikmin 2 treasures to match their new names in the Switch port. 104.28.57.219 23:13, April 25, 2024 (EDT)
Pikmin 2 regional differences, version differences, and names[edit]
Pikmin 2's region-based treasure differences are plenty complicated, and their coverage on the wiki currently is rather messy, especially considering the recent Nintendo Switch port that consolidates all regions. There are a few issues and potential solutions to them that have been discussed on the Pikipedia Discord server, which I will list so that they can get on-wiki discussion and feedback before possible implementation.
Pikmin 2 on Nintendo Switch is the most recent version of the game[edit]
Currently, we still document treasures with priority on their appearances in the North American Nintendo GameCube and Wii versions of the game. This is inconsistent with wiki policy, and it is probably warranted to update infoboxes, move some pages, and rewrite introductory paragraphs. As for object lists in areas and caves, I propose that we have individual treasure lists for each console.
For lists that are unchanged across consoles and regions, they would remain the same.

For lists with differences between consoles, they would be duplicated and marked for their respective consoles.

Japanese treasures and their names[edit]
The Nintendo Switch version of Pikmin 2 includes Japanese names for many of the treasures previously only in the American and European versions, and many of those names are the same as different treasures from the original Japanese versions. As compiled by 2 B on Talk:Broken Cooking God:
- Broken Cooking God to Broken Food Master
- Lightning Bolt to Impediment Scourge
- Love and Courage Reactor to Courage Reactor
- Omegatron to Durable Energy Cell
- Proton X to Proton AA
- Universally Best Art to Abstract Masterpiece
- Yell Battery to Fuel Reservoir
And 4 other treasures which have similar names to existing Japanese treasures, but not the exact same:
- Milk Lid and Massive Lid
- Idea Assistant and Creative Inspiration
- Understood Person Symbol and Optical Illustration
- Seat of Enlightenment and Pondering Emblem
I think all of these should be merged. Given that Nintendo saw it fit to consider these treasures the same, it seems obvious for us to do the same. For the ones that aren't though, I believe we should use the original Japanese names, rather than the unofficial translations we have now. Coiny The Refined is not a name that's ever been used officially, but its the name of the article despite it already having an official one, Haisensu zenī. --PopitTart (talk) 01:26, May 30, 2024 (EDT)
- I agree that most of this pages should be merged, but I'm not sure using the original Japanese name for treasures is a good idea. It would be way harder for someone to search for "Haisensu zenī" than "Coiny The Refinied" and the translation helps understand what a treasure is about way better. The fact that the translation isn't official should be stated on the articles though. — GGabryy(talk) 21:22, June 6, 2024 (CET)
- I think the proposed format for object lists is good, and I think the 7 articles in the first group should be merged but not the 4 articles in the second group, for the reasons I said in Talk:Broken Cooking God. I don't think the treasures exclusive to the Japanese version should have their articles renamed to use transliterated names instead of translated names, because these names would look inconsistent in object lists and be less helpful to English-speaking readers for understanding the treasure's name. It makes sense to use transliterated names for character or enemy names (such as the Ujadani), which often use made-up words, but treasure names are humorous descriptions of objects and are usually made of regular words, so I think it makes more sense to translate them using regular words. These articles should definitely have a box at the top of the article saying that the title is an unofficial translation though.
- More issues and potential solutions related to this topic have been discussed on the Discord server since the initial message in this section was written, so I'll list some of these.
- While most treasures are the same in all versions of the game (except for having a different icon in the Nintendo Switch version, and sometimes different Treasure Hoard numbers in different versions), some treasures have differences between versions, and sometimes the differences are so significant that there are effectively multiple different treasures with the same name (such as the Abstract Masterpiece). All versions of each treasure need to have statistics shown in an infobox. To avoid some articles having multiple treasure infoboxes to show the differences between versions, a new treasure infobox template with tabs could be introduced, so that each version of the treasure would have its statistics shown in a separate tab. The Nintendo Switch version's tab would be shown by default, as it's the newest version. I have started working on this template at Template:Infobox treasure p2.
- While introducing tabs in infoboxes would reduce the number of Pikmin 2 treasure infoboxes, articles about treasures that are also in Pikmin 3 or Pikmin 4 would still have multiple infoboxes, and this doesn't look very good. I propose that in these articles, the infoboxes could be moved from the top of the article to sections about each game. These sections would contain the infobox, some of the text that's currently in the introduction, and the collection guide. This would require some restructuring in these articles.
- Some locations where treasures are found in Pikmin 2 can have multiple treasures found there depending on the version of the game. Ideally, all of the articles about the treasures found in these locations should have guides for collecting the treasure, but this is not currently the case, with some articles instead linking to other articles that contain a guide. Having guides for treasures in the same location in multiple articles would be duplicating information though, which is the reason articles sometimes link to other articles. I propose that a new template could be created, which would contain the guides for treasures in all of these locations, so that articles could use this template to show the guide instead of having the guide written directly in them. This way each guide could be in the articles for all of the treasures found in the location the guide is written about, and to change the guide, it would only be necessary to edit the template instead of editing all of the articles. — Soprano(talk) 09:34, February 9, 2026 (UTC)
- I edited the new template Template:Infobox treasure p2 and it now looks better. Maybe you should remove some of the examples as the images and switchable titles take a long time to load. — Mr Biantainne (talk) 02:26, February 24, 2026 (UTC)
- There's another problem: the treasures in the NS version aren't shown in the list of treasures. We should document them in a separate table in another section of the article List of Pikmin 2 treasures. — Mr Biantainne (talk) 16:06, February 24, 2026 (UTC)
- That's one way to list them, and it would produce a clear list of treasures in the Nintendo Switch version, but it would result in a lot of information being duplicated. Perhaps the icons could be added to the existing table and the Treasure Hoard number for the North American version could be specified to also be for the Nintendo Switch version, but this would make the table more confusing. I'm not sure which of these options is better. — Soprano(talk) 04:28, February 25, 2026 (UTC)
- Some of the treasures in the US and NS versions have different names. It would be really confusing. Do you mean that we should have two treasure names in the 'name' column? Maybe we can just have three tables entitled GameCube, Wii, and Switch. — Mr Biantainne (talk) 09:00, February 25, 2026 (UTC)
- The names could just be the newer names if there was a single table. The GameCube and Wii versions have the same treasures (except for 1 difference that changes the location within a cave so the table doesn't need to show it), so they could have the same table if there were multiple tables. — Soprano(talk) 09:26, February 25, 2026 (UTC)
- Ok. But if there's a single table and you use the new names, the information about the previous versions will not be shown in the table: both the old names and the old icons will be discarded, and that will be unfriendly for the readers who play the GameCube and Wii versions as they can't see the corresponding info in the table. This is becoming very complex, so let's just have two tables. I have already made a table for the Switch version, and it will be put here later. — Mr Biantainne (talk) 10:41, February 25, 2026 (UTC)
- List_of_Pikmin_2_treasures/Switch Names and icons are directly taken from the US version. Some are wrong, so this table needs to be fixed. — Mr Biantainne (talk) 11:28, February 25, 2026 (UTC)
