The Citrus Lump (ツラノカワ?, lit.: "Shameless") is a treasure in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, and a fruit in Pikmin 3. It is actually a mandarin orange or a tangerine. In Pikmin 2, it is found in the first sublevel of the Emergence Cave. In Pikmin 3, it is found in the Garden of Hope, the Distant Tundra and the Twilight River. In Pikmin 4, it can be found in four different caves.

The Citrus Lump is one of the first treasures seen in the game. It is found in the first sublevel of the Emergence Cave, and can easily be brought to the ship's pod without any trouble, as it usually isn't guarded by the group of 4 Snow Bulborbs.

The Citrus Lump in the Garden of Hope can only be accessed once the Hocotatian has escaped. In the second half of the area, go into the water and lift the bamboo gate. There will be many Puckering Blinnows along the way, so make sure to bring plenty of Blue Pikmin. Beyond the bamboo gate, to the right, lays a small path, and the Citrus Lump is at the end. To carry it back, the tin box near the Waddlepus and the Burgeoning Spiderwort must have been dropped into the water.

Distant Tundra[edit]

Cave[edit]

A Citrus Lump can be found in the cavern with the Pyroclasmic Slooches. In the room, the lights must have been turned on. Afterwards, throw a leader up onto the higher Bloominous Stemple along with a few Pikmin. Proceed to carry the fruit back, but watch out for enemies on the way back.

Outside[edit]

It is recommended that this Citrus Lump is obtained after Charlie has been rescued. Throw two leaders onto the plateau with the Dodge Whistle. To the far right of the plateau is a Bouncy Mushroom. Throw one leader and some Yellow Pikmin onto the mushroom. They will arrive on another plateau, where the Citrus Lump is partially buried. There are two Bearded Amprats that guard the fruit. Kill the Amprats and the Arctic Cannon Larva and build the stack of hay, and proceed to carry the fruit back. It helps if the electric gate next to the landing site is destroyed. If Charlie has not been rescued, Pikmin alone can be thrown across the Bouncy Mushrooms and will notice the fruit as soon as they land. After digging it up, they can usually make it past the enemies unharmed and carry it back to the ship.

Twilight River[edit]

Location of the Citrus Lump in the Twilight River.

The Citrus Lump in the Twilight River requires Blue Pikmin to collect it. The fruit is in the river near the two Dwarf Orange Bulborbs. From that area, go right near the small waterfall, and the Citrus Lump will be seen. Simply put 5 or more Pikmin on it to carry it back to the S.S. Drake.

Collecting the treasure in Pikmin 4[edit]

Secluded Courtyard[edit]

There is a Citrus Lump hanging from a cobweb near the center of sublevel 1 of the Secluded Courtyard, right next to the entrance. To collect this treasure, you must stand on the nearby ledge and throw 7 Pikmin at it.

Doppelgänger's Den[edit]

There is a Citrus Lump sitting on a ledge in the southeastern corner of sublevel 3 of the Doppelgänger's Den. To collect this treasure, you must first open the iron fences by pressing the button at the south of the sublevel as you pass by it while on the moving walkways. Then, either throw 7 Pikmin at it. You will need to reverse the direction of the conveyor belts to collect it, or use Blue Pikmin and change the location of the base.

Frozen Inferno[edit]

There is a Citrus Lump on a circular platform near the southwest of sublevel 3 of the Frozen Inferno, right next to base. To collect this treasure, you must throw a fire starter at the bundles of dry plants surrounding it, then throw 7 Pikmin at it.

Cradle of the Beast[edit]

There is a Citrus Lump in the southeastern corner of sublevel 1 of the Cradle of the Beast. It is guarded by a Puffy Blowhog and a Scorchcake, which should be defeated before attempting to collect it. To collect this treasure, you must compress the bag in front of it with 30 Pikmin, then throw 7 Pikmin at it.

Notes

Olimar's journal

This fruit was dug up from the floor of an icy cavern. It appears that the fruit's thick skin protected it from the frigid cold... It's quite remarkable. The shape of the fruit eerily resembles the president's head. PS: The labyrinthine underground entrails of this planet are like a completely different world.

Sales pitch

The thick, acidic rind of this item is proof positive of its highly elevated mental functions. When I assess it, I am somehow reminded of a particularly hateful superior. Hurry up and devour it!

Brittany's notes

US version icon.png US version
Sweet and totally delicious, this one has quite a bit of Piktamin U. On closer analysis, the white fiber just inside the skin seems to have most of the nutrition, but it's not very tasty. I'll save it for the captain...
European version icon.png European version
Sweet, succulent and stuffed with Piktamin U! The white fibre on the underside of the peel abounds with nutrients, but it's pretty yucky to eat. A little treat for the Captain, perhaps?

Schnauz's notes[edit]

It's worth noting this tasty fruit's near-perfect round shape...which is not unlike the face of a shrewd friend. Meanwhile, the thick skin suggests it's a survivor. It's seen things. It's BEEN there. So let us look at it this way: as with that friend of ours, it might take us some effort to get to the good stuff. But, oh, what a reward once we do!

Olimar's notes[edit]

This fruit is so shiny and round it reminds me of a beach ball whenever I see it. Yet it's so yummy that I can't help but get cravings for it and end up eating it all the time. The only drawback is that I'm constantly disappointed that I'm not on vacation.

Louie's notes[edit]

Don't throw away all that stringy white stuff! It's full of nutrients and adds excellent texture to a smoothie.

Pikmin 2 website[edit]

The thick peel of this mysterious fruit shows how hardy it is. That's right, eat up!

Trivia[edit]

  • In Pikmin 3, all the instances of this fruit together create 6 bottles of juice, an amount tied with the Stellar Extrusion for the most bottles from a single type of fruit.
  • Oddly, this fruit creates yellow juice, though tangerine juice is orange in real life.
