Peculiar Rockfall (なぞの らくせきちたい?, lit.: "Mysterious rockfall zone") is the third main area in the Lushlife Murk. It takes place inside a cave with some narrow corridors, and is home to several Stony Flint Beetles. There are several iron blocks in this area, either covering the way, or on top of high ledges, and the Stony Flint Beetles behind them pose the threat of limiting Captain Olimar and the Pikmin's space, or of dropping the blocks down below to where the group will pass. Near the very end, if the player has enough Pikmin, they can push a massive iron block out of the way and reveal the path to a secret exit, which leads to the Burning Bog. If not, they will have to take the standard exit by climbing up a nearby vine, which grants access to Olimar's Madcap Ride.

Cutscenes[edit]

Cutscene Screenshot Trigger Description
Pikmin pulling The Pikmin pulling cutscene in Peculiar Rockfall. After the doorway that leads into the Thoroughbred Statue's room, the player climbs up the vine that's further ahead. Three Yellow Pikmin are hiding behind a pile of dried leafs, and one Yellow Pikmin is out in the open. The latter Pikmin tugs at something in the pile, and manages to pull out one of the hiding Pikmin. Those two get together, grab inside the pile, and pull out the third Pikmin. Finally, those three similarly take a grab, and out comes the fourth Pikmin. However, unlike the previous two, which got pulled out and landed on the floor face-first, this Pikmin performs a flip when pulled out and finishes with a gymnast salutation. The other three Pikmin quickly recover from the recoil of pushing their friend, and pose alongside their friend.
Vine chain The vine cutscene in Peculiar Rockfall. To the left of the doorway that leads into the Tandem Sword's room, the player climbs up the vine. A Yellow Pikmin is holding on to a loose vine that is dangling from the ceiling. A different Yellow Pikmin, on the floor, approaches the vine, jumps to it, and grabs onto the first Pikmin. Two other grounded Yellow Pikmin repeat the process, each hanging on to the previous. The first Pikmin struggles trying to hold on to the weight of four Pikmin, and eventually lets go, resulting in all of them falling to the ground back-first. They quickly get up and look at each other.
Slide The slide cutscene in Peculiar Rockfall. The player enters the doorway after the part where two Stony Flint Beetles push rocks towards the center. Olimar and four Red Pikmin are traveling inside a tunnel, that has a small staircase and a slide right after. One by one, the Pikmin jump up each step and slide down the slope. Olimar follows behind, but climbs up each step instead of jumping. When he reaches the top, he tries to get ready to begin sliding, but ends up tripping and falls into it, sliding belly-down instead. As the Pikmin stand in place waiting for him, he finishes his fall and gets up.
