Mitites are enemies found in Pikmin 2. They are helpless, but not harmless. They resemble small, pink creatures with white shells and five legs to move around. When you step on wherever they're buried, 10 of them will then come out and scuttle around, sending both themselves and the Pikmin into a panic. They are also found in eggs on the ground and in Honeywisp eggs, underground in sublevel 10 of Hole of Heroes, which are summoned by an Emperor Bulblax when it roars, as well as being found in the bodies of some Raging Long Legs. Mitites can be found just about anywhere, it just depends on the chance that an egg will contain some. They will eventually burrow back unless killed. The best way to kill them is to throw Purple Pikmin onto them (any color will work, but purple ones send out shockwaves that kill the surrounding Mitites). They will drop nectar when killed, which makes them slightly valuable if you want flowered Pikmin, especially if you are able to kill all of them. If you are trying to get Pokos, they are also effecient. The reason Mitites are found inside eggs is because they lay their eggs inside the eggs of other organisms through the symbiosis of parasitism. For a strange reason, they cannot be petrified in the field or cave you find them in, but can be petrified in the Piklopedia entry by pressing the Z button.

Olimar's Notes

These parasitic enemies feed on eggs. Upon reaching maturity, they excrete a special pheromone that attracts females of a certain species, enticing these females to swallow the Mitites whole. (Pikmin, however, seem to dislike the scent.) After entering the female's body, the Mitites lay their own eggs inside the host's eggs just prior to the host spawning.

Louie's Notes

Fresh-dry with garlic and red chilies in a hot pan, then sprinkle with gorgonzola. Some dinner guests might find the legs unappealing, so it's best to remove them before serving.
