The Nova Blaster (ノヴァブラスター?, lit.: "Nova Blaster") is a ship part of the S.S. Dolphin in Pikmin. Its promotional brochure claims that it emits a powerful burst of light said to be able to destroy stellar objects as large as stars. It is unknown why a cargo ship like the Dolphin and Hocotate ship would have this weapon, however, it is assumed that its purpose is as a means of defense against space pirates. The brochure also says that the blasts could travel through the currents in space.

As pointed out by the game's instruction manual, the reason why Captain Olimar did not intercept the incoming meteor from the beginning of the game with the Nova Blaster is because the route he was flying through was usually a safe one, therefore he had put the S.S. Dolphin on auto-pilot to get some tea, and failed to notice the meteor. However, this does not explain why the Guard Satellite had failed to warn the Captain of the meteor, despite having the means to destroy it with the Nova Blaster.

In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, another Nova Blaster with green paint appears as a part of the Hocotate ship. This Nova Blaster is worth Texture used for the Poko in Pikmin 3. × 800. The Nova Blaster reappears as a ship part in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale in Pikmin 4.

After being collected, this ship part does not change the ship's appearance.

Collecting the partEdit

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

In PikminEdit

Location of the Nova Blaster.

Destroy the stone wall next to the landing area with bomb-rocks. Next, defeat the Dwarf Bulborbs and a Spotty Bulborb. Destroy the black gate or go through a small opening in the tree stump's root. Continue down the path, beating more Bulborbs. It is at the end, next to a rusted open tin can.

In Pikmin 3 DeluxeEdit

See also: Shaggy Long Legs strategy.

The Nova Blaster is held inside the golden Shaggy Long Legs found in the last mission of Olimar's Comeback. Defeating the creature allows retrieval of the part.

In Pikmin 4Edit

Ascend the hill near the Meandering Slope landing site and throw Pikmin to lower the bridge over the valley. Cross the bridge and use Moss' rush or a bomb rock to break a barricade of jars to the left. Past a Puffy Blowhog is an Arachnode that is keeping the Nova Blaster in its web. Kill the Blowhog to prevent it from disrupting your Pikmin, then kill the Arachnode to recover the part.

Notes

Olimar's monologs

I've found the Nova Blaster!

This emits a dazzling burst of light capable of destroying almost anything! I'm not exactly sure about this, but the promotional brochure claims that its blasts can travel in the currents of space-time, smashing through stars and into the rifts of space.

This is a weapon of such incredible destructive force that it can blast stars into tiny pieces...

It has a strange allure.
