There were no plans to include Pikmin franchise elements into the core gameplay, but the series still made its way into the game in the form of two collectible trophies; one for Captain Olimar, and one for the Pikmin. The former is only unlocked if the player has a Pikmin saved game on their memory card, while the latter must be won through the game's trophy lottery feature.
