Map_06 is a beta map in Pikmin left in the disc. It appears to be a map from the Pikmin commercial, but this is yet to be proven. It has the same music as The Distant Spring, which may mean it's an early design of the stage, but this is also yet to be proven.

The map has many plants, static objects, formations in the ground, and textures not featured in the finished Pikmin. The map seems to have no real boundaries, and Olimar can easily fall into the bottomless abyss. There are few enemies, only about three: a Yellow Wollywog, a Puffy Blowhog, and a Spotty Bulbear. There are many tree stumps scattered around, and a path leading to a circle that has a Pile of Sticks that Pikmin can build with near the middle. The UV Lamp is near there, possibly more evidence this may have been an early design of The Distant Spring, but many of the original areas for ship parts were different, so this may just be nothing. There are many different things floating in the abyss, inaccessible to the player without cheats, such as gates, a pellet, a Crimson Candypop Bud, and many other objects. The ground is mostly dirt with rock and grass patches about. There also seems to be an area where the Onions land and where the Dolphin lands that appears to be an area with lower elevation than the rest of the map. This may be because water was going to be added, although no Pikmin would be able to exit the Onions easily with the exception of Blue Pikmin there. Many textures are also in the map that were left unused in the finalized game.

Overview[edit]

Note: For the sake of simplicity, it is assumed that north is the direction Captain Olimar is facing at the start.

The map has many plants, static objects, formations in the ground, and textures not featured in the final areas. It has no real boundaries, and Olimar can easily fall into the bottomless abyss. However, he will simply be returned to the base, completely unaffected, unlike the frozen leader glitch of the second game. The ground is mostly dirt with rock and grass patches about.

Most of the map is composed of one large, circular section. The southern half of the main area is a grassy plain, while the northeastern part is under water, but said water is not animated, and not responsive. At the northwest of the main area, there is a hollow stump that can be walked in. At the right, there is a rocky formation. Nearby, there is a zigzagging path that leads to another part of the map. This area is set up like a bowl in a fashion similar to Emperor Bulblax's arena in The Final Trial, but it is covered in grass rather than sand.

Video[edit]

In the video, the geometry has been placed on top of The Distant Spring. This explains the music and randomly placed objects.
