Petals are used for flower planting. To get petals you first require nectar, feeding nectar to Pikmin will allow a flower to bloom on their head, then picking the petals to add them to your inventory.

Using different colour nectar produces different colour flowers and petals, and in turn, flowers.

As you walk and planting flowers, you are able to grow your seedlings faster. Inittally with a 10% bonus and with each additional flower planted, additional bonus is added.

While near large flowers, you can plant flowers to encorage growth and allow the large flower to bloom.
