Inside Forest is the second mission in Olimar's Assignment, representing the second day of Olimar and Louie's third trip to PNF-404. It takes place in the Tropical Wilds.

Plot

Olimar's Expedition Log: Field Survey

“This is Olimar, captain of the S.S. Dolphin. I've been to this planet twice before already. I never tire of hunting for treasure here! I made an interesting find in this area: some sort of key-like object. I should hold on to it in case I find a treasure chest. Unless it's a key to something else? [The sound of Pikmin dying is heard. Olimar turns to his left to see Louie and one Blue Pikmin running around a Peckish Aristocrat. Three Blue Pikmin have just been eaten, and the Aristocrab strikes at Louie, sending him and the Pikmin flying away and landing on the ground twitching. This happens in the water near where the Slapstick Crescent is found in the game. The scene then returns to Olimar.] I'd better keep my eyes open. I wouldn't want to get between the crabs of this planet and their prey.”

“We found a key, but we haven't seen anything it might unlock. I was hoping to pick up a small souvenir for my son, and this may be just the thing. Side note: although Louie doesn't say much around me, I've spotted him muttering to himself when he thinks no one is around. In many ways, he's even more of a mystery than the Pikmin.”
