Creature Hunting (原生生物大掃除?, lit.: "Primitive Creature Cleanup") is the second day of Olimar's Comeback. It takes place in the Tropical Wilds, with the objective of defeating every enemy on the map.

Plot[edit]

Olimar hones in on a signal within the Tropical Wilds, which he believes is one of the missing ship parts. However, the area is swarming with many Bulborbs, Bulbears, and other enemies native to the area (with the exception of the Bearded Amprat). Olimar comments that they landed in the "wrong spot", and that they touched down some distance from the Onion, implying that they walked to the Onion after they landed. While it has only been a day since their last visit to the area, it has been drastically altered by the lack of water.

At the end of the day, Olimar does not locate anything, leaving whatever signal he detected unidentified. He comments on the loyalty of his Pikmin and his difficulties keeping them safe.

Description[edit]

Most of the mission takes place near the Story Mode landing site and Sandbelching Meerslug's arena. The water in the area where the Koppaite crew crossed over to fight the Meerslug is gone, and several enemies have moved into the now-dry depressions. There are walls blocking Olimar and Louie from going into the area which contained Dusk Pustules in Story Mode. There are also several enemy species that are not usually found in the Tropical Wilds, such as Spotty Bulbears.

Guide[edit]

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Once the day loads, whistle Louie, the Red Pikmin and the Rock Pikmin in front of you. Get the Red Pikmin to dig up the Red Pellet and the Rock Pikmin to the Rock Pellet. Throw one captain at the Onion and one captain to explore beyond the Dwarf Bulborbs and the Bulborb. The captain exploring can go down the paper bag to pluck the Red Pikmin sprouts and defeat the three Dwarf Bulborbs and the two Skitter Leafs. Go to the Crystal wall and pluck the Rock Pikmin sprouts beside it. Break down the crystal wall and return to the other captain and take down the Dwarf Bulborbs and the Bulborb. Leave one captain by the Onion to harvest the corpses and pluck the newly born Pikmin sprouts. The other captain will then break down the Dirt Wall on the right of the exit. After plucking reunite with the other captain to defeat the Dwarf Bulborbs and Bulborb behind the Dirt wall. After that use your Pikmin to defeat the Swooping Snitchbug and the Peckish Aristocrab. Pluck the Rock Pikmin sprouts around the enemies, being behind a tree stump and in the path the left of the Peckish Aristocrab. Move on past the sprouts and pluck another few Rock Pikmin sprouts and defeat the Skitter Leaf. Move on and defeat the Hermit Crawmad and pluck the Red Pikmin sprouts. Defeat the two Calcified Crushblats and then defeat the two Bearded Amprats and pluck the last Rock Pikmin sprouts. Go on and defeat the Spotty Bulbear, the Dwarf Bulbears and the last Skitter Leaf hidden in a corner. Thus receiving the Platinum Medal.

Quotes[edit]

Briefing[edit]

Timing is everything! If you can’t throw those Bomb Rocks just right to take out the strongest creatures, I don’t know what else to tell you!

Outline[edit]

Mission Log, Day 2: We’re homing in on a signal that might be coming from one of the ship’s parts. But the way there will take us across an area swarming with Bulborbs. Still, I don’t see any other way to progress with our mission, so we’ll have to face the danger head-on and do what we can.

Assignment Report[edit]

Well, we didn’t find the ship we came for. It’s tough to keep the Pikmin safe through the constant attacks from this world’s inhabitants, but they’d do anything for me, so I have to do what I can for them. Besides, I’m not so bad off. I have the benefit of experience, decent equipment, and Louie. With all that, I should be home with my family in no time.
