Pikmin Behavior (Exploration Notes)

The Pikmin Behavior menu.

Pikmin Behavior (Pikminology in Europe) is a category from the Exploration Notes menu in Pikmin 3. It holds 30 Data Files discussing the behavior and abilities of all the Pikmin. Most of these Data Files can be found around PNF-404 just about anywhere, hidden or not, while some are automatically given to the player after completing certain tasks.

In this article, unless otherwise stated, the text provided is the same for both the US and European versions of the game.

Pikminology #1

• Text: "The Onion is like a nest for the Pikmin. It both gives birth to them and provides them with shelter."
• Area: Tropical Wilds
• Location: This file is revealed after the Pikmin move the cardboard box near the original red Onion site.

Pikminology #2

• US text: "Stand under an Onion and then press A / A / PCA / L to take out or return Pikmin."
• Europe text: "Stand under an Onion and press A / A / PCA / L to take out or return Pikmin."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Obtained once the player lands on the Garden of Hope.

Pikminology #3

• US text: "Different colored Onions can fuse to become a single Onion."
• Europe text: "Different coloured Onions can fuse to become a single Onion."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Obtained once the gray Onion fuses with the red Onion.

Pikminology #4

• US text: "New sprouts will be the same color as the Pikmin that retrieved the pellet or creature."
• Europe text: "New sprouts will be the same colour as the Pikmin that retrieved the pellet or creature."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: In a Crystal in the area where Rock Pikmin are found.

Pikminology #5

• US text: "Pellets retrieved by Pikmin of the same color produce more sprouts."
• Europe text: "A pellet will produce more sprouts when retrieved by Pikmin that are the colour of the pellet."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Near the group of Fiery Blowhogs, near the landing site.

Pikminology #6

• Text: "As Pikmin develop, they get faster. They grow from leaf to bud to flower."
• Area: Distant Tundra
• Location: On the slide near the Velvety Dreamdrop.

Pikminology #7

• US text: "Use Ultra-Spicy Nectar to invigorate Pikmin and boost their attack power."
• Europe text: "Use Ultra-Spicy Nectar to invigorate Pikmin, boosting their speed and attack power."
• Area: Tropical Wilds
• Location: In the patch of clovers right next to the Burgeoning Spiderwort.

Pikminology #8

• Text: "There can only be 100 Pikmin on the surface at any one time, but more can sprout inside the Onion."
• How to obtain: Obtained once there are 100 Pikmin on the field, but there are more inside the onion.

Pikminology #9

• US text: "Press ZR / B / PCZR to blow the whistle and help panicking Pikmin."
• Europe text: "Help panicking Pikmin by using your whistle."
• How to obtain: Throw a non-blue Pikmin into the water for the first time.

• US text: "All Pikmin can carry Bombs."
• Europe text: "All Pikmin can handle Bomb Rocks."
• Area: Tropical Wilds
• Location: In the corner with the eggs near the Mock Bottom.

Pikminology #11

• Text: "Make sure Pikmin are in your squad or close to the Onion when the sun sets. All others will perish!"
• How to obtain: Obtained once the Sun Meter is close to sunset for the first time.

Pikminology #12

• US text: "Throw Pikmin into a Candypop Bud, and they will change color."
• Europe text: "Throw Pikmin into a Candypop Bud and they will change colour."
• Area: Distant Tundra
• Location: In the cave with the Pyroclasmic Slooches, near a Golden Candypop Bud.

Pikminology #13

• Us text: "When Pikmin consume nectar, they blossom into flower Pikmin."
• Europe text: "When Pikmin consume Nectar, they blossom into flower Pikmin."
• How to obtain: Feed the Pikmin some nectar.

Pikminology #14

• US text: "Once Pikmin are done transporting fragments, they will return to the original location of the fragments."
• Europe text: "When Pikmin have transported all Fragments, they will gather in the place the Fragments were found."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: After the pile of fragments past the dirt wall are collected, this Data File will appear.

• Location: Off the shore of the area with two Yellow Wollywogs, right in the corner.

Rock Pikmin #1

• US text: "Rock Pikmin are very hard... like rocks."
• Europe text: "Rock Pikmin are very hard. Rock hard!"
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Under the gray Onion once activated.

Rock Pikmin #2

• Text: "Rock Pikmin inflict extraordinary damage when thrown directly onto an enemy or object."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Past the Crystal Wall outside where the Rock Pikmin are found.

Rock Pikmin #3

• US text: "Rock Pikmin aren't crushed when trampled on."
• Europe text: "Rock Pikmin can't be squashed, even when trampled upon."
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Beyond the area with the two Yellow Wollywogs, near two Skitter Leaves and a Toady Bloyster.

Yellow Pikmin #1

• Text: "Yellow Pikmin can conduct electricity."
• Area: Distant Tundra
• Location: Right next to the circuit where the Yellow Pikmin are found.

Yellow Pikmin #2

• US text: "Yellow Pikmin are shock resistant."
• Europe text: "Yellow Pikmin are shock-resistant."
• Area: Distant Tundra
• Location: Right next to the small circuit in the cave where Yellow Pikmin are found.

Yellow Pikmin #3

• US text: "Yellow Pikmin can be thrown very high into the air!"

• Area: Distant Tundra
• Location: In the cave where Yellow Pikmin are found, near the 5 Pellet on the high ledge.

Yellow Pikmin #4

• Location: In a Crystal guarded by a Fiery Blowhog right outside of the landing site.

Winged Pikmin #1

• Location: On the other side of the blue bridge right near the landing site.

• Text: "Winged Pikmin can lift objects into the air."
• Area: Distant Tundra
• Location: Near the Flukeweeds where Winged Pikmin are found.

Winged Pikmin #3

• Text: "Winged Pikmin are somewhat lacking in attack strength."
• Area: Twilight River
• Location: On the ledge with the Arachnode, near the landing site.

Winged Pikmin #4

• Text: "Winged Pikmin are aces in aerial combat."
• Area: Twilight River
• Location: Under the bridge leading up to the Scornet Maestro.

Blue Pikmin #1
