Pikmin Behavior (Exploration Notes)

Pikmin Behavior (ピクミンの生態^?, lit.: "Pikmin Ecology", Pikminology in Europe) is a category from the Exploration Notes menu in Pikmin 3. It holds 30 data files discussing the behavior and abilities of all the Pikmin. Most of these data files can be found around PNF-404 just about anywhere, hidden or not, while some are automatically given to the player after completing certain tasks.

Although the category itself is called "Pikmin Behavior" in the US and "Pikminology" in Europe, any data files related to the way Pikmin behave have the word "Pikminology" on their title in both regions.

In this article, unless otherwise stated, the text provided is the same for both the US and European versions of the game. Pikmin 3 Deluxe changes some of the Data Files.

Pikminology #1

• Text: “The Onion is like a nest for the Pikmin. It both gives birth to them and provides them with shelter.”
• Area: Tropical Wilds
• Location: This file is revealed after the Pikmin move the cardboard box near the original Red Onion site.

Pikminology #2

• US text: “Press  /  /  / under the Onion to take out or return Pikmin.”
• Europe text: “Stand under an Onion and press  /  /  / to take out or return Pikmin.”
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Obtained once the player lands on the Garden of Hope.

Pikminology #3

• US text: “Different-colored Onions can fuse into a single Onion.”
• Europe text: “Different coloured Onions can fuse to become a single Onion.”
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: Obtained once the Rock Onion fuses with the Red Onion.

Pikminology #4

• US text: “New sprouts will be the same color as the Pikmin that retrieved the pellet or creature.”
• Europe text: “New sprouts will be the same colour as the Pikmin that retrieved the pellet or creature.”
• Area: Garden of Hope
• Location: In a crystal in the area where Rock Pikmin are found.

• How to obtain: Obtained once there are 100 Pikmin on the field, but there are more inside the Onion.

• How to obtain: Throw a non-Blue Pikmin into the water for the first time.

• Europe text: “All Pikmin can handle Bomb Rocks.”

• Location: In the corner with the eggs near the Mock Bottom.

• How to obtain: Obtained once the Sun Meter is close to sunset for the first time.

• Location: In the cave with the Pyroclasmic Slooches, near a Golden Candypop Bud.

• How to obtain: Feed the Pikmin some nectar.
