Test Tubs (バスルーム演習場?, lit.: "Bathroom Practice Field") is a Dandori Challenge in Pikmin 4. It has many water hazards to demonstrate the abilities of Blue Pikmin.

How to reach[edit]

See: Dandori Challenge#Locations

This Dandori Challenge is fourth in the dynamic order. It is preceded by Rockaway Cellars and followed by Ice-Cross Course.

Overview[edit]

Test Tubs is set in a bathroom-themed cave, and features three large ceramic basins, with two filled with water.

Layout[edit]

Test Tubs contains three large rooms with a basin in the center and pathways around the edge, three smaller rooms, and the room containing the S.S. Beagle. These rooms are connected through short hallways. There is a large amount of water features in this stage.

The northernmost basin room has 10 Blue Pikmin fighting 2 Puckering Blinnows and 5 Rock Pikmin sprouts in the far corner. There is a fishing rope on the edge of the basin connected to a Universal Rubber Cutie, as well as a Fishy Bed and a pile of 46 Gold Nuggets. The south-west corner features a short ramp which forms a one-way drop without Oatchi's Jump, and an egg in the north-east. The basin has three exit ramps in the north-west, north-east, and south-east.

To the south-east is a small room with 5 Rock Pikmin fighting an Aristocrab Offspring, and connects to the middle basin room. To the south is a small room with a body of water which can be drained by digging a pile of dirt to unblock a drain. This room connects to the starting area.

The middle basin room has 5 Blue Pikmin sprouts in the water along with two Planetary Rubber Cuties and a pile of 26 Gold Nuggets. There is an Aristocrab Offspring in the south-east and a dirt wall blocking the path in the south-west. There is another short ramp in the north-west. The basin has one exit ramp in the south-east. This room connects to the starting area to the west and a small room to the south. The small room contains two Water Dumples, a Doggy Bed, and a partially buried Planetary Rubber Cutie.

The southmost basin room has 5 Rock Pikmin sprouts in the north-east and 10 idle Blue Pikmin on a raised platform in the south-west corner. The basin here has no water in it, but there is a Yellow Wollyhop, a Planetary Rubber Cutie, and a Stately Rubber Cutie. There is a pile of 20 Gold Nuggets and an Unfloatable Boat around the edge. This room connects to the north through a small flooded passage to the starting area, and to the small room with the two Water Dumples to the east.

Guides[edit]

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

While this Dandori Challenge contains a lot of water, do not underestimate the usefulness of the available Rock Pikmin. They should be prioritized for land transport and combat.

Begin by using Oatchi to travel through the shallow water in the small northern room. Although this water can be drained, it isn't worth the time to do so, as Blue Pikmin will be important for shortcuts through the basin in the room beyond in any case. Continue through to the large northern basin and defeat the Puckering Blinnows to gain 10 Blue Pikmin. Set 6 Blue Pikmin onto the pile of Gold Nuggets, and use a combination of Blue Pikmin and Oatchi to transport the remaining items (do not use Rock Pikmin). Pluck the 5 Rock Pikmin sprouts and continue south-east where there is an Aristocrab Offspring fighting 5 Rock Pikmin. Defeat it and set 3 Rock Pikmin on its body, and continue forwards.

In the next basin room, defeat the Aristocrab Offspring, set all the Rock Pikmin onto the dirt wall, and pluck the Blue Pikmin sprouts. Use them to transport the 2 Planetary Rubber Cuties. By now, the Rock Pikmin carrying the Aristocrab Offspring should be on the south side of the basin, so call them and set them onto the dirt wall. Once this is demolished, call the Blue Pikmin at the base and head back into the room where you just were. Set 5 Blue Pikmin onto the Gold Nuggets, and use Rock Pikmin to carry the two Aristocrab Offspring.

Continue south into the next small room. Defeat the two Water Dumples first, then use your Pikmin to transport all the items in this room (if coordinated right, you should have the perfect number for this. If not, use the Rock Pikmin sprouts in the next room to help). Pluck the 5 Rock Pikmin sprouts in the next room and call the 10 Blue Pikmin on the platform. Be careful when fighting the Yellow Wollyhop as Rock Pikmin can be crushed against this hard surface. Set 10 Blue Pikmin onto the Gold Nuggets and grab any Blue Pikmin that are idle at the base. Return, and prioritize Blue Pikmin when transporting these objects as they can take a major shortcut through the flooded pathway. Otherwise, set more Pikmin than the minimum onto objects to speed up transport times.

From here, return to base and set idle Blue Pikmin onto the remaining Gold Nugget piles and wait until this Dandori Challenge is complete.
