To start things off, you want to take care of the Dwarf Bulborbs, especially the ones near the Bulborb, take caution in not trying to wake it up.
It's best to take out all the Dwarf Bulborbs first. Some may spawn very close to the adult Bulbord, so extra care should be taken not to wake it up accidentally during an attack; reloading the map for a better layout is possible. A spray of each kind will make it much less a threat, and there is usually only the need for one more on the next sublevel. This Bulbord will also drop the key.
There are two ways you can go at the bulborb. You can either use one of your Ultra-Bitter Spray to petrify the Bulborb, or you can either sneak up behind it so you can throw Pikmin onto his back. You will get the key from the Bulborb that you kill. After you take the key, the entrance to the next sublevel will arrive. Make sure you collect any treasures or corpses before you move on.

'''Walkthrough''' You will enter a cave layout similar to a cave layout you may or may not have seen in the main story of the game. As you go around the train tracks, make sure to get the treasures if you choose. Take out any Dwarf Orange Bulborbs you see, to avoid carrying the key through them. If you want to carry any of the Dwarf Orange Bulborb's corpses or treasures they drop, be sure to take out the others, just to be safe. After you have taken care of the Dwarf Orange Bulborbs, get ready to fight the Orange Bulborb. You may either use one of your Ultra-Bitter sprays on them, or attack it from the back. The latter might be a bit dangerous, as Orange Bulborbs are light sleepers. After you have taken the key from him, head for the geyser. You will need to break it open, so bring some of your pikmin with you. Make sure you've gotten everything you need before you end the dungeon off.
'''Walkthrough''' The Dwarf Orange Bulborbs will usually be in the way of the Pikmin carrying the key back, so it's best to take them out first. The larger Orange Bulborb carries the key. Orange Bulborbs wake up faster than Red Bulborbs, so it's best to use the spare sprays here. The treasures are spread widely across the map, even on top of the train tracks, making some scavenging necessary. The [[Geyser#Pikmin_2|geyser]] will appear once the key is brought back. The geyser must be opened by the Pikmin either by swarming it or throwing Pikmin at it.

The Lost Toy Box is one of the five levels that will already be unlocked upon unlocking Challenge Mode in Pikmin 2. Olimar and Louie will have the most Pikmin they will ever get in Challenge Mode: 100. It has two sublevels, both contain only enemies of the Bulborb family. It is harder than most of the unlocked levels in Challenge Mode.

Sublevel 1

Walkthrough It's best to take out all the Dwarf Bulborbs first.

Sublevel 2

Walkthrough The Dwarf Orange Bulborbs will usually be in the way of the Pikmin carrying the key back, so it's best to take them out first. The larger Orange Bulborb carries the key. Orange Bulborbs wake up faster than Red Bulborbs, so it's best to use the spare sprays here. The treasures are spread widely across the map, even on top of the train tracks, making some scavenging necessary. The geyser will appear once the key is brought back. The geyser must be opened by the Pikmin either by swarming it or throwing Pikmin at it.
