Bunker
- "Safe" redirects here. For the ship part from Pikmin, see Secret Safe.
Bunkers (シェルター?) are special obstacles in Pikmin 4. They are large metal safes with 3 dials and 3 displays, which each show a 1-digit number. By default, bunkers are completely impassable and entirely block off whatever is inside. They only open after the correct numbers to its code are selected on each of the 3 displays. This is done by throwing Pikmin at each dial, which makes the associated digit display increase by 1, repeating to 0 after reaching 9. In order to learn the code, the player must find the 3 associated playing-card treasures for that bunker, which each contain a digit in the code. However, it is not necessary to collect all 3 cards to open the bunker – finding fewer than 3 cards and checking numbers for the unknown digits will still work. The bunker in the Hero's Hideaway has its code on the Power Emblem, Courage Emblem, and Wisdom Emblem, while the one in the Dream Home has its code on the Love Emblem, Money Emblem, and Work Emblem. A bunker's code can only contain the digits 1 to 9, and all 6 digits across the 2 bunkers must be different. The codes are randomly chosen in each playthrough.
