Kingcaps (マダラタケ?, lit.: "Spotted Mushroom") are a type of fungus in Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4 that serve as obstacles. They are usually found blocking the way in corridors, and come accompanied with a series of Spotcaps. Only Pikmin can destroy King caps in Pikmin 3, but Pikmin, Leaders and Oatchi can destroy them in Pikmin 4.
Kingcaps have a lot of durability and occupy a lot of space, but once cleared, they open up some significant space. Unlike the smaller Spotcaps, Pikmin can latch on to a Kingcap when thrown, and it has a health wheel.

Poison Kingcap[edit]
In Pikmin 4, a poisonous variant of the Kingcap can be found. It is rarer than its normal counterpart, only being found in 2 caves, the Doppelgänger's Den and the Engulfed Castle. It functions nearly identically to normal Kingcaps, except it can only be attacked by White Pikmin, Glow Pikmin and Oatchi with the
Pup Sniff Saver due to the poison emitting from it. It weirdly can't be attacked by the player.

Trivia[edit]
- Spotcaps and Kingcaps share many similarities to Dwarf Bulborbs, and Bulborbs, respectively. Spotcaps and Dwarf Bulborbs each have 100 health, while Kingcaps and Bulborbs each have 1000. Both are red with white spots, and both Spotcaps and Dwarf Bulborbs instantly get defeated when hit on top.
