Scarab beetle family

The scarab beetle family is a family of enemies in Pikmin 2, and currently contains only one member, the Anode Beetle. This family's name is based on the real-life scarabaeidae family.

Anode Beetle

The Anode Beetle is an enemy found in caves in Pikmin 2. It walks around harmlessly, periodically stopping in place and charging up electricity. If another Anode Beetle is nearby, the two will create a current of electricity between them, which will instantly kill non-Yellow Pikmin. If a beetle is alone, it will cause no harm. Its carapace makes it invulnerable to attacks, so a Pikmin must be tossed directly from above in order to flip it around and make it expose its soft underbelly – its only weak point.
