The Mammoth Snootwhacker is a large enemy in Pikmin 4. It is the older variant of the Miniature Snootwhacker. Like its younger form, it has a thick skin that prevents most attacks and allows it to crush non-Rock Pikmin with the weight of its trunk. These attacks pose a greater threat and larger radius given the increased size. Unlike the smaller version, it takes two charges from Oatchi to damage it, as only one will simply stun it instead of exposing the belly, its weak point.

Dalmo's Notes

If you get close, it will whip its trunk around and around, then smash it on the ground. It might be a chance for an exciting jump-rope workout! If you try throwing a bomb at it, it will use that dexterous trunk to shoot it right back at you. Those are some nose skills that could impress any athlete!

Olimar's Notes

The long nose on this specimen has neither bone nor cartilage but is made up entirely of muscle and can be flexibly curved and extended. Its tough hide consists of densely layered collagen lattices that cover almost its entire body, leaving only the regular skin on the belly exposed.

The fully developed trunk is large and quite heavy, so the Mammoth Snootwhacker usually rolls it inward to carry it closer to its center of gravity. But if its territory is invaded, it will extend the trunk and frail it around, even using it to strike a perceived enemy.

Just like a juvenile Snootwhacker, their nose comprises a disproportional amount of their body weight, resulting in poor balance. If attacked from behind or from the side, even an adult of the species is easily knocked over.

Louie's Notes

The bitter flavor fades as they grow, replaced by a sweet mellow aroma. Stew the base of the trunk, grill the middle, or smoke the tip. The possibilities are endless!
