The Time Capsule is a treasure in Pikmin 2 and is actually a golden locket with a picture of a Shetland Sheepdog. It is found on sublevel 4 of the Citadel of Spiders, and some enemies may need to be defeated once it is found. The Time Capsule contains a picture of a house cat instead of a dog in the Japanese version.

Notes

Olimar's journal

This must be some kind of a memorial capsule left by a lost civilization. It has left behind some image data, but I can't make any sense of it. I'm going to have to do some additional analysis. I'll document any exciting new developments in my log, along with pages and pages of meaningless doodles.

Sales pitch

This shiny pod was found buried like a time capsule, holding image data of unknown origin. Is it possible that you fathom the data's import? This riddle will entrance all puzzle lovers!

  • In the Japanese version of Pikmin 2, the picture inside the locket is that of a cat instead of a dog. This is because at the time, cats were more common pets than dogs in Japan.
  • The Shetland Sheepdog in the European and American versions could be referencing Shigeru Miyamoto's dog, Pikku (which he got in 2001), which the name "Pikmin" might've been derived from. [1]
