The Love Nugget (ヒトメボレ?, lit.: "Love at First Sight") is a treasure found in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4 and is actually a red, ripe tomato. It is found on the first sublevel of the Citadel of Spiders in Pikmin 2, and in the Hero's Hideaway and Giant's Hearth in Pikmin 4.

There are a few Shearwigs that may try to kill Pikmin on the way to the ship's pod, but it's still rather easy to obtain.

Hero's Hideaway[edit]

There are two Love Nuggets lying at the bottom of the sink on the northeastern edge of the overworld, submerged underwater. To collect them, you must throw 10 Blue Pikmin at each treasure, or 10 of any Pikmin after pressing the nearby button which drains the sink of its water.

Giant's Hearth[edit]

There is a Love Nugget lying on the ground near the center of the overworld. It is surrounded by bundles of dried plants, so you must throw a fire starter at it to free it. To collect this treasure, you must throw 10 Pikmin at it.

Notes

Olimar's journal

This tasty red snack isn't quite a fruit, but doesn't seem like a vegetable either. I've analyzed it extensively, and it appears to be releasing stimulating pheromones. Maybe I should feed it to my wife...

Sales pitch

One bite and your heart will be filled with a burning fever. Is the feeling love...or hallucination?

Schnauz's notes[edit]

I don't know what it is about this fruit...vegetable...whatever it is...but take one bite, and your heart is sure to heat up. I know mine does. Is it love at first bite? Or am I just imagining things?

Olimar's notes[edit]

This tasty red snack isn't quite a fruit, but it doesn't seem like a vegetable either. I've analyzed it extensively, and whenever I think I've settled the matter, I discover something new that calls it all into question! This is why I'm not a scientist by trade.

Louie's notes[edit]

Exquisite balance of sweet and sour. The umami flavor almost doubles when cooked with meat.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Love Nugget is one of two fruits in Pikmin 2 that does not appear in Pikmin 3, the other being the Combustion Berry.
  • Olimar's journal entry for the Love Nugget likely references the famous debate around if tomatoes are a fruit or a vegetable.
