The Stellar Orb is a treasure found in Pikmin 2 that clearly resembles a small lightbulb. It can be found on the last sublevel of the Subterranean Complex, and is held by a powerful Man-at-Legs. When Olimar retrieves this treasure, he unlocks the Solar System component of the Exploration Kit.

Solar System

The Solar System is a device that will illuminate any sort of darkness inside a cave's sublevels. This way, it is possible to see things that are very far away when underground. The name does not refer to where we live, but is rather named after it's ability to light up dark areas; It is a machine that gives off solar light. The tenth sublevel of the Cavern of Chaos is only bright before this treasure is obtained. Afterwards, it becomes darker.

Notes

Olimar's Journal

"The technology behind this impressive gadget is totally unknown to my people... It appears to replicate he intense solar beams of the sun. Space exploration has given me a ghostly pallor. Maybe I'll use this orb to catch a few rays..."

Sales Pitch

"This tanning machine is based on primitive science principles. Come, you pallid recluses and sun-starved hermits! You, too, can have a healthy, stylish glow!"

The Ship's Dialogue

"That mechanized monstrosity is no longer functional!"

"An insect and a machine forming a symbiotic relationship? Life-forms here are beyond odd!"

"Initiating area scan... Glass sphere detected!"

Collected

"If I combine this glass sphere with the synthetic sun I have been secretly developing..."

"The artifiial sunlight it emanates will brighten underground areas."
