The Doomsday Apparatus is the heaviest and most valuable treasure in Pikmin 2. It is a large blue, and heavily rusted training weight. It is found in the Wistful Wild, not too far from the landing site. You must go through the grueling task of getting 100 Purple Pikmin to be able to pick up this unfathomably heavy item, and even then, it takes a very long time to carry to the base because of the fact that even when all the purples circle around the treasure, there is still room for more pikmin. However, you can't bring out more than one hundred at a time unless you use a cheating device, it will take at least one fourth of the day to return it to the ship, even with one hundred Purples. While carrying the treasure, it is advised that the player attack and defeat the Gatling Groink, the Dwarf Bulborb and the Decorated Cannon Beetle, so as to clear the way in advance for exploring the rest of the level.
The best place to get 100 purples for the Doomsday Apparatus is the Subterranean Complex, as it has 3 Violet Candypop Buds.
