Throwing a Pikmin near the creature's head will result in all five segments falling down, while hitting it on the back segment will result in only that one falling down. They usually fly high enough so that only [[Yellow Pikmin]] and [[Winged Pikmin]] can reach them. Hitting one of its segments will drop nectar from that segment and every segment to the tail. After hitting it, it will fly away.
