The Sputtlefish is a poisonous, squid-like enemy in Pikmin 3. They are capable of swimming around on the surface of the water, and can lash out on Pikmin and eat them one at a time alongside releasing ink which causes Pikmin to panic for some seconds whenever they are attacked. They can also heal once attacked.[1]

  • The Sputtlefish's name is based off of "spurt", since it squirts ink to defend itself, and "Cuttlefish", a real-life animal that it resembles.
    • The "Sputtle" part of the name could also be based off of the real life "sputtle", an excretion produced by insects that functions as a paralytical defense.
