The Giant Breadbug is a boss in Pikmin 2. Unlike other Breadbugs, this one is large and shaped somewhat cubical, looking like a loaf of bread, making it the largest species in the Breadbug family. It acts the same as normal Breadbugs, but is harder to damage by "rejection" from the pod. It is considered by many players to be the easiest boss in the game (boss theme music is not even played, though an exclusive tune is played only in the specific cave sublevel). The more recognizable habitat is located on the final sublevel of the Glutton's Kitchen and consists of only two other Breadbugs, electric nodes, and Anode Beetles.
This creature is also found in the Snack Pit in Challenge Mode.
Killing Strategy
As when killing a normal Breadbug, let the Giant Breadbug grab a treasure or other object and then have your pikmin grab the object and pull it to the pod. After doing this two times the beast will die.
Spraying it with an ultra-bitter spray will allow it to be swarmed. Otherwise, throw purples at the top of its back. “{{notes:enemy/{{{2}}}|block=y}}”
An easy strategy to kill the Giant Breadbug along with the normal breadbugs is to take a battalion of yellows, kill the anode beatles and then have any of the breadbugs take the corpses one by one and drag the corpse with the breadbug to the research pod. It is garanteed that all three breadbugs will be killed before all anode beetle corpses have been used.
Trivia
- The Giant Breadbug is the only boss in Pikmin 2 that does not "intentionally try" to harm Pikmin unless of course it drags some into its den.
- The Giant Breadbug is one of the three bosses in the game that has its own theme music, but it can barely be heard.
- Unlike regular Breadbug's only purple Pikmin can damage it,Because it's verry though blubber will make other types of Pikmin bounce off.
- The giant Breadbug will also snort while it is being draged to the pod where as regular Breadbugs will not.
- It is also one of the bosses that you wont see for the rest of the game,The others are the Water Wraith,Raging long legs,the Segmented Crawbster,the Titan Dweevil and the Pileated snagret.
