Hairy Bulborbs are enemies in Pikmin 2. They resemble Red Bulborbs, but their backsides are white with blue spots and possess a lot of fluffy, white fur. They are similar to most other mature Bulborbs, but tend to live in colder environments. They have less health and are slightly more aggressive than the Red Bulborb and can be easily defeated by repeatedly throwing purple pikmin onto its back. Once this creature's health has been lowered to half, its hair will fall off, revealing its blue spots, making it resemble its Breadbug mimic, though larger in size. This creature's soft fur and brown snout make it resemble a dog. To defeat it, toss Purple Pikmin on its back. The impact should stun it, and should be taken out quickly. Without Purples, Hairy Bulborbs are tricky. The best way to combat them this way is to sneak up behind them and use an Ultra-Bitter Spray to petrify them and throw Pikmin (Preferably Reds) at their backs. If done without the spray, The Hairy Bulborb is likely to turn around and take a bite, so the spray is highly recommended.

Killing Strategy

Pikmin
Rather than swarming it, try continuously tossing Pikmin onto its back, even if some are shaken off. A few purple Pikmin can cause serious damage, especially if they stun the Bulborb. If it is accidentally awakened it before attacking with Pikmin, run away until it turns around, then make a pass at it.
Captains
Like all Bulborbs, the Hairy Bulborb can be killed by a Captain, although it will take a while. One must be careful to dodge the creature's bite and if it shakes,The captain will be damaged.
